Blimey that sounds a bit worrying McKenna!
Let me know if there is any damage done to it.
I reckon they must have felt the cloves inside and thought it was something else |

I was thinking the exact same thing. But it's all here and nothing is damaged, so thanks. |

My Review:
The colorful blossom of the spring spreads over wide open fields, slowly growing roots. A since of a new strange beginning, leaving the past behind, moving forward...
Croplands and trees under endless sky, change is occurring. From the last fading haze of the stormy weather a ray of light breaks through, a new dawn is rising.
A summer night, laying under a glowing tapestry of stars with your love ones, warm soft breeze caresses your face, the good times...
Dreamy and wishful, silly and hopeful, only afterwards you realised that time is constantly passing, and fast, and it makes you sad when you think of it sometimes...So all you can do is appreciate and cherish those moments of innocence, moments of magic, as time goes by and memories are all that is left in a heartwarming corner inside your soul.
A change is starting again as the autumn ghost whispers it's winds and the leafs upon the trees are painted in shades of faded red and green, falling down one by one...just like the layers of our souls that are peeling slowly, creating a confusion that leads to isolation, yet when we walk in the dirt road between two long lines of wondering trees, a path, we see the beauty that comes out of sadness as the gray sky is coming near. We know that it's not going to be easy but we see the good in this change.
Looking outside your window, the rains are falling down again. A glass of red wine and a cigarette, trying to disconnect, trying to forget...
Just a few miles from your home, in the middel of the city there is a secret spot, a rural spot which from there you almost can't see the buildings.Trees and tall green grass is surrounding you, the grass is moving diagonally because of the wind and the clouds are moving sideways upon the gray sky. You are there with your best friend and you know that it's time to let go, time to move on... things change
just like the seasons.
Beautiful modern classical touch blends with dreamy post rock atmospheres and gentle electronic manipulations. No beats this time. An Ambient, electro-acoustic pearl made of four experimental compositions. Deep penetrating piano lines, emotional cinematic string layers, enchanted guitar section, fluffy saxophone parts, seductive human whispering, all wrapped and spiced with sensitive electronics and a minimalistic yet dynamic approach. All four compositions are beautifully composed and sculpted. Mellow all the way yet dramatic and emotional, sometimes restrained and mysterious, and sometimes moving in a powerful way, bursting.
"Dials" is the third release from the amazing UK based record label Fluid Audio.
I say amazing because the two previous releases from Fluid Audio - V/A Hope and the Field Rotation EP - Licht und Schatten were both amzing from all aspects, the music, the artwork, the excellent production, the mastering, and " Dials " is just the same in those terms.
Some of you might know Guy Andrews, the man behind ' The Moving Dawn Orchestra' as 'iambic' - his ambient electro-acoustic jazz act. I first heard about this guy thanks to the first Fluid Audio release - V/A Hope which contains two wonderful tracks by him as 'iambic'. The 'iambic' sound and style immediately captured me, especially the track "Flags" from the 'Hope' compilation. ' The Moving Dawn Orchestra' is Guy Andrews's latest project and it's quite different from his previous work but just as beautiful. It's a bit more experimental and slides into the modern classical field but still maintains a graceful gentle electronic aura. It's a combination that creates a lot of depth and atmosphere, a combination which I believe the Fluid Audio label is aiming for, but with a different point of view for each release the label is releasing, sometimes more acoustic and sometimes electronic based on, always fresh, always unique.
The artwork:
Already from the start, the Fluid Audio label set high standards of packaging with a lot of originality, beauty and a unique touch, and there are no exceptions with "Dials".
In fact, this is the label's finest in terms of artwork and packaging. It comes with a booklet, photo album, badge and the CD is wrapped in a gorgeous special cover with beautiful drawings on the front and on the back, and also a few more treats are included. You should just take a look at the Fluid Audio website or facebook page, it's stunning !
"Dials" was a very limited edition of only 50 CD copies, a thematic EP, "a representation of four seasons of a year"
The release date was 01.03.10 and it's already sold out. It's also available as a digital release on iambic's web store.
Trust me, you do not want to miss the physical releases of Fluid Audio, and especially not the limited CD editions !
So, if you missed that one, just treat yourself with the digital release and next time be faster.
Cheers !

An excellent an eloquent review. I really like some of the images you used. I think your description of the album itself is right on. This is a gem of an album, with a very nice blend of styles. Fluid is off to a strong start with some high quality and very artistic offerings. And because of them, one of my closed CD cabinets smells like cloves. Who could ask for more? |
