We are pleased to announce the second release from the Fluid Audio collection...

Licht und Schatten is the new venture from Germany's Field Rotation, and also the prelude to his main album due for release on Fluid Audio in 2010.
The project contains seven tracks focusing on the theme of light and shadow (the digital version of the EP is a four-track release).
The Limited Edition CD offers 100 individually signed/numbered copies, packaged in gorgeous hand stitched material, along with a full colour poster, badge and a nice little surprise.
The Story:
“It’s like painting all the different colours and nuances of a sunglow, but your canvas is the sequencer and you are designing with sound.” - Field Rotation
The journey begins with ‘Abendrot’, a time-lapsed snapshot caught on a tranquail evening at the Baltic Sea, a tribute to Field Rotation's home. He doesn’t try to create dramatic or cinematic science-fiction film music, on the contrary: sometimes the electro-acoustic compositions lead to a thrilling fragility. For example ‘Polarlicht’ (German for aurora borealis) follows the idea of its fabled meaning, being dreaded as a ghostly epiphany but in effect being nothing more than a physical phenomenon.

'Lichtermeer’ is a completely electronically produced sound collage showing the sea of lights of a metropolitan night that blend perfectly into ‘Lichtbrechung’ (refraction of light), which follow a beam of light until it withers to nothingness. ‘Mondfinsternis’ is the electro-acoustic tale of a moon eclipse, returning to the idea of catching a snapshot of a natural spectacle.
Whilst the digital four-track-release ends here, the limited Edition continues with ‘Tiefflug’, also completely synthetic in nature. This rhythmic-based track unravels the strain and leads to the final track ‘Schlafwandler’. This shy soundtrack of a sleepwalker returns to the starting point of the EP, an acoustic impression of a calm moment.

Good news !
soon as I will have the money I will buy it for sure !
the packaging looks really special and with beautiful artwork, the poster is a nice addition as well.
and according to samples and from the tracks on Field Rotation's myspace page the music sounds beautiful !
by the way Dan,what city is that on the cover ? I'm not sure...
also good to know that Field Rotation's debut album is going to be on Fluid Audio 
oh.. and the new online shop looks great !

Awesome! I can't say enough how much i'm looking forward to this.
Congrats on the new website too! However (unless it's just me) the text could be a bit darker, kind of hard to read against the white background.
Also good to see that the next release is already up there to whet our appetites. Iambic. cool.

The samples sound incredible and I am feeling the packaging.
What does the artists mean in the text when he comments:

First question: that means that the music will be more classical in future - electroacoustic in its more acoustic meaning.
Second question: no, we can't offer pre-orders for the EP because it is limited to 100 copies and we want to make sure there are any copies left when it's officially released october 26th. |

The 'Mondfinsternis' remix shows another side to Christoph's production skills and is a sneak preview of things to come for his main album on Fluid Audio in 2010.

well, again Dan, it looks really Great !
though I usually don't really like the sleeve style of packaging,it makes it harder to keep the CD in good condition.
the'Mondfinsternis'remix indeed shows another side to Christoph's production skills,and an interesting one as well.
everything I heard so far from Christoph is stunning !
he's definitely bringing something new and fresh with his sound and style.
by the way Dan, do you have any idea if the artist who took the cover picture chose this spot also because of the cross in there..
I mean, the picture definitely goes well with the EP's concept of light and shadow but just wondering if the cross just happens to be there or if this picture was chosen also because of the cross ?
anyway, can't wait to own one of these limited Editions

Just noticed a mistake on my part...
Release date on first post should read 26/10/09.
Regards to the picture there is no relevance to the cross from our side of things.
Not sure if Dorothy intended it to have any meaning or not to be honest.
Christoph may know more... |
