they might use el. guitar samples, but whats the use of copying their sound? if you like the sound you have its ok,
anyhow not that popular anymore these days these el. guitar riffs but sure they are an easy way to get some type of feel in a track. some people got very... something with that signature sound, not mentioning the S artist name here

Remember this is old stuff - and, done with less than ideal equipment That's one of the reasons why it sounds like this (and, what great time I've had listening to this - but, I think it might late 90's > but not that it matters). So, using Guitar Rig you wanna emulate not-so-high quality equipment, recorded in a not-so-good room with a less-than-great mic - so you need to take that into account! It's really easy to switch between presets and listen to a whole whack of huge-sounding tones, whist trying to sound great cabinet and mic wise, but just listen to the tone you are trying to achieve: I'd bet if you solo'd it, it will sound really crappy And, if you actually arrived upon a preset with this exact tone, you would probably overlook it, because it doesn't matter if an instrument is sounding great, but how it sounds in the mix.
Also, do consider that purists (and many people that aren't that extreme) state Guitar Rig sounds good, but it really can't compare to a live rig. I defend that it doesn't matter what it is, but only what you can do with it. Take what you want.
So, point out for some distortion on your amp -> I would say either lots of distortion, or some overdrive, plus a bit of fuzzzzzzz from a pedal There's no need to over-do it, they aren't playing death grind vegetarian core metal neither do they have a "wall of sound" being blasted out of the speakers - but a "wall of bass" is there, typical of general psytrance.
So, if your guitar isn't the main focus on the bass, it shouldn't try to spit out bass frequencies. But beware - take too much out and you'll end up sounding like Skazy, leave too much in and it'll conflict with you beat. But, there's no magical rules and, as a bass is merely a bass, a guitar is merely a guitar.
Also, this sounds like a lot of HP was used - very typical of 90's psy. Use this to your advantage if you want to get that sound (I actually noticed psytrance has evolved over the years having people open the HP more and more.. even a bass sound now can be a full lead )
Then, compression. That guitar sound has no dynamics, it's all the same level at the same power - being very much lifeless in that matter (which is what you want, in something so dense as a psytrance tune). So, compress it, and maybe overdo it if you wanna sound like this
Also, listen to new S.U.N. project stuff, and listen how their guitar sounds now - the difference is in the quality and know-how, so not knowing that much can help get this tone
getting guitar like sounds isn't difficult (but of course getting something that sounds exactly like a guitar requires a guitar).
as knocz said, distortion/overdrive and compression should do it if you use a "guitar amp" plugin. you don't really have to do a lot in the synth. with the right guitar amp settings even abl2 can play a guitar solo.

I should state i don't know how to play electric guitar and I don't intend to.
I was just asking how you guys would go around to get a sound similar to that one using only synthesis...
That's up to you, but I do highly recommend it.
About only using synthesis, you didn’t give us this info (you stated you're using guitar rig, so I assumed you were using a real guitar. no prob ), well nothing sounds as good as the original.
There are really a bunch of plug-ins for emulating guitars, but unless you apply painstaking tons of automation you can't really emulate all of the minute dynamics inherent with playing a live instrument.. Sorry but I can't really help you more on this..
Maybe search with the Slayer plug-in, or one of those from those big guys companies.. buit i wouldn't apply guitar rig fully fledged on top of a synthed guitar, or if I did I would be very careful not to make is sound to unnatural..
Or, get a friend who plays guitar and ask him to play a bunch of riffs while you record him (or just ask here, there are ton's of us here who play)
