Has anyone found any good free ring mdoulator effects? I've downloaded some from KVR but havn't found anything satisfying. (It might be because I am comparing it to a friend's Moog Modulator pedal ...)

undertow: a moogerfooger will sound better then 99% of the software... Maybe a pieve of software that is more expensive then the moogerfooger will do the trick, but...
I'm always looking for filters/choruses/flangers/... that can replace my analogue hardware... But it's VERY hard to find plugins who sound just as good... The big advantage is that software has lot's more features, and i want to take advantage of that, but i don't want to lose the lush soundquality of my electric mistress (for example) just because the mistress can't sync to midi... So up till now i'm still using the mistress... All that just to say that u might be looking for that great sounding ring modulator for a long time... |

I tend to like Reaktor's Banaan Electrique effects module for Flanger, Phaser, Chorus, Reverb, Delay, Comp, all in one with lots of control parameters. We'll have to see what Reaktor 5 has in store....

Yeah I know. I sincerely doubt I'll find anything like the Moogerfooger but there must be some slightly decent ring modulator plugins arround. Preferably for free untill I can spend some money on stuff again ...

I recommend UAD-1 Phazor plugin(but need UAD-1 DSP card installed)
I checked many software phasers/filters and most plugins sounds flat and sick comparable to analog filters/fx (like moooger fooger).
i was impressed when i bought UAD-1 card and check included plugins. UAD Phazor sounds close to mooger fooger phaser. It sounds warm and fat and comparable to other analog phasers.
Waves Enigma also very good, very flexible but sounds not awesome as UAD phazor or mooger fooger 12-stage Phaser. It may be use + Warmer/Saturation type plugins. |
