hey guys. i've been using FL for production and i love the Vanguard plugin for leads and some FX. But i find this plugin to be very limited in terms of arp/pattern length. unlike FM8 or Nexus when I can customize my lead pattern with the help of the in built editor. also for most sounds using the Piano roll can be quite futile as i just cant get that amount of control. I wanted to know how you guys make all these awesome sounding leads, that is, how do you get these amazing variations and patterns that'r are moving from this plugin? I mean is there any VST effect i can use? i do use d'blue glitch and effectrix for some, but i'm sure there's something better out there. it'll b great if you can help me out... |

Yeah, I agree with that. I used to love vanguard(Still use it alot but prefer Albino3 now).
Rather use the piano roll and use different note lengths and notes instead of the built in arp and gater.
The gater I usually use to add a subtle gating to the sound, not to gate it the way it was designed to.
Vanguard is a good little vst though, but I quickly got bored with its restrictions once I learnt it well.

thanks for the insight guys. very helpful. now i'm spending more time on the piano roll and less browsing for perfect presets. |

Spend alot of time breaking the presets down and trying to figure out how they sound the way they do.
Most importantly: Read the manual!
The manual is quite simple, but explains the different oscillator types(they not named the way you would expect), how they work, what features they have, and how the chain of fx works on vanguard itself.
Once you have a bit of insight into the inner workings of it, it makes it easier to understand.

Also in FL you have a plugin "GROS BEAT" that you can insert on ch mixer track. Try it.
Never let computers to win a game! :)
