irritating
OMG. the ignorance of some people.
FL is no less powerful than the rest. top contender imo.
speaking as someone who has tested majority of DAWs.
its all about preference.
i still wanna see sonar.

Logic commands me to get technical... which can be good.. just don't feel at home using it.. It seems to have a superb output quality and effects though...
FLstudio looks nice, has good browsing options.. (allows you to pick background art)
handles everything that i try to rape it with..
Thusly it gives ME maximum creative ultra power since controlling it has become second nature...
Also i could not survive without the granulizer (among other FL plugins) any more..
i feel that in 7, 8 & now 9 , FLstudio's general output quality had gotten clearer ? and this must develop even further in the future.
'til their all equal...

great debate. always the same issues.
summing engines, 32bit this 64bit that. 1+1 is 2. panning laws. whatever.
always ending with the same resolve -its foolish to believe any of the mainstreams DAWs have inferior quality output

i think FL is more intuitive than cubase. Also there is Reaper, a good freeware daw. I tried both programs and I think cubase looks nice but is too heavy on my pc and i take too much time to do things in it than i would do in fl, maybe because i know it more.
but i think you can make quality music in any daw, it is more up to you than the software you are using.
cant wait to see fl10...anyone know anything about it and when it will come out?

I am interested in FL 10 as well the last two releases of FL have made LEAPS from the other versions. I feel the same way. I love cubase and its native plugins. However, I feel I get things done in FL WAY WAY faster. In cubase often times I will spend an hour to get an 8 bar loop. I get frustrated and save it and close. It is definitely good software but it totally does not go with my workflow. I've been dabbling with live to see if I could get my workflow as quick as FL and I can see how I could in live. However, once you know FL extremely well things can be done so quickly it is amazing. For example, the select and drag and drop feature from edison. That is just a great simple way to pull out some samples. THat is just one of the many many quick and easy things I love about FL.

is reaper a freeware tool?.. I think it is the cheapest or most priceworth but not free.I think there is a huge development between cubase 2 and 5.I still use 4.
NOw if it is placebo than mine is a strange - I do not really like that much ableton (apart from a few ableton plug ins and changing of plug ins by draging, and sidechain techniques)- steinberg is my favourite and most probably will stay till death - but to me not cubase but ableton output's sound a bit better.. but I render in steinberg ,your comments about this issue is in a greater overweight hehe still tbh to me ableton sounds better ,the same kick and bass in cubase without nothing else or in ableton with nothing more on it- sounds better through ableton for instance.
Than reason'S output is for me 100% not equal but lacks even if you render in cubase in 24 bit and compare cubase will sound more decent.
They sound all different.

you can get amazing results in any DAW program.
they all have their plus points, and they all have their flaws. this is only natural; they are different programs put together by different development teams with different agendas. and most of them have some overriding design idea which has shaped the way the DAW has evolved; so Live is all about live audio work, Reason is about hardware emulation, REAPER is about efficiency, etc. etc...
that means that IMHO the most important thing is workflow. what helps you to get stuff done fast? what tools allow you to express yourself and unleash your creativity? and what programs help you to enjoy making music?
from a professional standpoint i think it's good to learn as many languages as possible that way you can assess the strengths and weaknesses of each, you can use the standout tools and features which make each program special, and you are very flexible when it comes to working with other people.
p.s. Cubase 5 is a big step forwards... there is an awful lot which has changed even from SX3. too much to mention...
