I can't recall what version it was..but I'm quite sure it's was later than 3.5.6 anyway...it was maybe three years ago.
But as I recall it was simply mixing audio tracks, so no issues with rendering or recording....the problem was present when simply summing a few tracks.
For sure you can avoid the mud and end up with a decent mix using FL...I know a few people doing that and all credit to them.
But it's a lot more work EQ'ing to make sure you have very good separation, and that's not my preferred way of working...I like to have as good sound as possible with a minimum effort.

Yeah I guess you're right. Heard that from other people too that changed to other platforms: less eq work. All depends on how you work and what you like. I like eq'ing the hell out of stuff, as long as I can create on the fly and with the speed I can get out of FL.
I'd like to add something ingeneral about FL and it has to do with getting a clear mix and working fast: the browser. You have your customisable browser on the left with your favo samples but also with your favourite presets of vsti's. All the presets you made on different vsti's over the years in one row. Same for mixer presets (groups of efx). I have my own bundle of efx which very much define my sound(s). I could never export those bundles to other programs and even if I could: I never saw a program that manages bundles so easily. So I guess I will be (co-)producing in FL for the rest of my days . rewiring is a bliss though

from the fl studio manual:
"Interpolation - There are two places in FL Studio where interpolation may be set. Here in the Audio Settings that affects only the live sound (playback sample interpolation method) and in the export dialog that sets the interpolation of exported audio files. In both cases interpolation is the process of smoothly creating changes in sample data when the system is called to ‘invent’ intermediate volume levels between any two known sample points. This is necessary when samples are transposed from their original pitch, so the benefits of higher quality interpolation will only be useful for transposed samples. FL Studio provides several methods -
Linear interpolation provides the lowest CPU hit with basic linear averaging between samples, however this may result in aliasing (high frequency noises) when samples are transposed far from their original pitch. We recommend linear settings for most live mixing situations.
6-point Hermite is the fastest curve interpolation method and as it provides superior quality to linear interpolation. If you have a fast PC you may like to try this method during critical mixing sessions. However it will use more CPU than linear.
64, 128, 256, 512-point Sinc methods provide, increasingly, the highest quality interpolation, but they are also very cpu intensive. Anything above 6-point Hermite is not suitable for live-playback (perhaps one day when we have 32-core 10 GHz CPUs). So why are these methods available? So that if someone requires the highest quality live interpolation they can have it...and so you can believe us, turn on 256-point sync and watch your PC grind to a stuttering halt next time you transpose a sample...don't say we didn't warn you!
As noted abobe, a separate interpolation setting has been provided for the render dialog"
here are the trick to get the maximum of quality.
the other ones are only in your head. mixin of two samples in 32bit is only simple math. that do all daws in the same way. only with different db's. in cubase there is an emulation of tape saturation in the mixer. when you like this you have to use an plugin in other daw's to get this sound.

FL8 is just amazing
About the quality issue:
As Spindrift said some years ago we made some testing, me and some other guys from this forum (maybe orange took part if i remember right).
Spindrift is right that at this time some noise was added, but only in the SAMPLER channel, so the builtin sampler added some noise.
But the audiochannels were already at this time abolutly precise and clean.
I assume that most samplers add some noise, or at least at this time all did. I made some test with Kontakt, Directwave and another one (can't remember) and no one was clean.
So i should repeat the test now with FL8, if i find time and do so, ill let u know.
Anyway the audiochannels have never added noise.
I am open for all kind of sequencers and tested, worked and played with most of them, but i still can't see why there are so much people still using cubase.
For my daily use Fl8 is still the sequencer that seems to be built for my brain
Or i just adapted my brain to it 8)

is the noise evertime in the sampler? or only when transposing or in some frequencies? should i only use the audioclips for samples to prevent this?
