I think you better spend ~300$ than 800$. I heard FL7 is much more powerful than ever. So forget stereotypes and think about your wallet first. IMHO host is host. Whatever it is, if you know the software - it doesn't matter that is it: most powerful audio enviropment at market or negative "overrated" FLS - you can use it. I was using FL because i worked with old Celeron (!!!) 600/256 mb and chinese motherboard that costs maybe 10 bucks. I had a cracked version of Cubase 5 also, it was crashing everyday. I couldn't buy licence because it's too expensive. So i continued to dig inside FL until I learned every little corner of it. This software HAS POTENTIAL. It's pathos bullshit and stupid stereotype - Cube has better sound than FL. Since you're understand fundamentals of sound and you can do some basic mastering - you will survive in every enviropment you'll use. It can be EnergyXT, Independence, Midi Quest, FL, Cubase, Orion, Reason, Sonar, Logic etc. Some of them more simple, some more advanced. But you hardly will meet even most pro musicmker which use even half of features Cubase has. I've tried A LOT cracked/freeware/demo software from Scream Tracker, Rebirth to Cubase/Logic. If you have a money, nerves, and believe in stereotypes you addicted to Cubase. If you're not multimillionaire - go for EnergyXT or FL. It have everything you need for making music. Don't listen to stupid advices like I did in past - do whatever you think it's better. Try things and use your own brain. If somebody tells you that you must use Logic because Simon do - be aware from this man's advices. If somebody tells you that only Vangurd is good for basses - be aware. It's a stupid advice. THERE IS NO ONLY. You like Reason - use it, you got Cubase - learn it. Stick with FL - let it flow. Only you can explore the secrets of software, best learning is by yourself IMHO. It's like LSD - then you tried it - you know it. You can listen to Terence McKenna for hours everydy, but one experience beats it all.
PS Some PPL say Pioneer CDJ 100 (example) is the only deck you must use, because *quoting "it's the best". Why? Dunno, "it's the best".
That's a crap, crap, crap, not FL and another stereotypes. I write it not for protect FL or something - it's the truth. Hardware is the key, software is addition
BTW IMHO it's a "eternal topic". Must be closed or attached ho-ho-ho

It's not just that! When you get FL, you also get lifetime free upgrades which means
you'll get FL8 for free, Fl9 for free, FL10 for free and so on. There's no offer that can beat that.

and not only free lifetime upgrades but also many new plugins in the new versions or new versions of excisting pluagins are offered for free for registered users!
lots of mb of free samples to download all the new apps and plugins when in beta are free to download and test!
many group buy offerings and special holiday prices!
and most important of all... direct chat with the developers of the app in the flstudio forum for bug/problem fixing and new i improvements and additions for all the image line apps!
definitely a bargain !!

I've heard some people say their stuff has only started to sound like Psytrance when they moved to Cubase. My stuff (on FL) only started to sound like trance when I spent weeks reading up on fundamental sound theory and applying it to my music. |
