ive been hearing alot about fast sampling(granular synthesis).i understand the idea e.g getting a bit of a sample say a snare and using a tiny bit of over and over to make a lead.is there anyway of doing this on fl? when i try i get crap results,is there any special way and what do you put the cut up sample through?i hope ive explained this ok
and one other thing in the piano roll how do you zoom in super close like on some templates i see i can only get it to 1/4

thanks in advance

hey , didn't get the first question , but to zoom in , click and drag your mouse pointer in the `square`.. top right corner in the piano roll , just under the X ..which closes it ..

Go to Options -> Project general settings and increase timebase from the drop down list.

correct! ^ this is the thing for zoom more

about the "make my snare to lead" (and make fruity better then any other software , try to acheive this in cubase without kontact pff)

several options here , the best imho:

-first thing is to find the right snare duh
-second , adjust the sample to the length (if it have too much silence after the sample use "edit" to remove the silent part)
-open in sampler channel
(so far it should actualy take 1 second if u have ready sample , just open in new sampler channel)
-move the "crf" button according to taste
-ohh my god! my snare is a synth!
-tune your pitch change to 24 or 48 and go nuts!
-will work on hihat too , vocals , waveshapes(!) , anything realy..

for real real granular synthesis wich is not perfectrly the same as this method please use the most wonderfull tool "granulizer" it have not too many buttons im sure you will figure it out , also one of the most fun toys! actualy havnt used it a long while , im gonna play with that abit , thanx for inspiration , nothing like a good fruity talk (that sounds gay hehe , fl studio talk!)

there is also fruity granulizer plug that can help a bit.
plus adding a chorus to the chopped sample can smoothen the edges and make the sound less grainy.           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

^good question , Iv been wondering the same thing .. apart from the bass instrument , on leads etc i cant seem to control the velocity or panning on each note from within the piano roll for other vsti`s .. so i use volume automation .. but there has to be a workaround ?

its not possible to control note velocity with most of the vst's.
use volume automation, directly in the piano roll, that's the easiest.
