Hi All....
I have a question thats been plauging me, so i thought here would be a good place to ask..
I am using FL with the TC Powercore and the Access Virus. Now with the virus in Base Licence setup, you can load 4 intances or layers in one channel by selecting different presets in the same VST window and routing them out to different midi tracks so you are layering the sounds on top of each other. I cant get the midi routing sorted out to get it all working.. Can someone step through the process please? I take it it is using the ports and the mixer in some way?
Your help is much appreciated and many thanx to all for the great info i keep reading!

if i get it right u want sound from the virus into the fruity with diffrent layers?
if u do u need several steps
1.choose in options>midi options>here u need to choose port for your midi out from soundcard(whit drag updown with mouse) and on the right side (black spot) u choose your soundcard midi out.
2.set V on option>enable midi output
3.channels>add one>midi out
4.set preset in midi out to access virus (so all knobs routed by their midi ctrl chart ready)
5.choose the same port u choosed b4
6.choose midi channel (make sure u set virus to accept it with local on/off)
7.clone channel at this state without change parameters 3 times and give each midi out channel diffrent midi channel (make sure virus set to those same channels)
8.enjoy 4 diffrent layers which any of them can recive diffrent automation and program.
9.if you set your card right you can get virus sounds into the fruity and add realtime fx by choosing in fx mixer down sound card input important that you do it right that virus wont b heard double (as regular out and throu fl.. u can check this by turning fl master volume completely down and if u still hear it something set wrong..) if u do it right so u can also record with fl.. otherwise u need to play the midi and record virus with other program as wavelab or soundforge (which sux way to do it but ... i did it 2 years without knowing im stupid..heh )

Thanx for the reply...
I'm using the Virus For the TC Powercore which is software only, so thats where im finding it hard to route the channels.. Its like i need to set different out ports for each part of the virus.(you can have 4 parts on one dsp chip) Im told you can then assign sounds to each and have them all play together on the one channel.. Your steps i think are on the right track, i just need to apply them somehow to the TC virus version...
Many thanks for your time!! |

I also use the Virus for Powercore, but i use it in Cubase SX. In cubase, you can load one instance of the virus for powercore into the vsti-rack and then you can open the virus for powercore on different midi-lanes in the sequencer window. The virus automatically has each voice routed to its own mixer-channel. You choose between the voices by changing the midi-channel. Midi channel 1 is for voice one, midi channel 2 is for voice 2 etc. In the Virus plugin window you can choose a voice and change it's patch.
So the key to playing voices 1 to 4 is using midi-channels 1 to 4. I think that this is also the case in Fruity. |
