When i load a mp3 into FL it sounds somewhat duller then when playing through winAMP or MSmedia player(with flat EQ- disabled).

why?

Just tested it and it sound the same as playing it through winamp here.

Do you have asio4all set as default sound device in FL?           Triplag Music

Did you remove the limiter on the master channel?
With the standard template there is always a limiter on the master, just start with the 'empty' template or overwrite the empty one with your own template.           http://soundcloud.com/euphoricapsy

+1 on that....

Indeed. Over compressing/limiting can make the track sound squashed and muddy so make sure u remove the limiter on the master channel!!! it should solve ur problem!!!

cheers!

No problem with asio, I had dull sound when using the "primary sound driver" back in the day.

Just asking, cuz a friend had a problem with his machine where he had to set asio as default sound every time he started fl.          Triplag Music

put your flp in a new folder (name it as you like):
...flstudioDataProjectsTemplates
- create a txt file with some infos that will be shown (xyz.flp -> xyz.nfo)
- put an icon.png with a graphic you like in this folder

- start fl studio
- create "new from template"
- leave fl studio
- next time fl studio starts with the last choosen template

also FL studio has lower volume values by default.

every channel is set below 0db

maybe what you hear is the mp3 lowered in volume and not dull.           feed me lepricons :D

true the defualt for samplers is -8.2db

also check your panning law in the project settings (aka circular makes all softer)           www.sattelbattle.com
