Sorry, I might of came out a bit harsh, but nothing that some midnight tokes haven't cleared up..

Welcome to the forum and congrats on that project!
You have much to learn, but my friend, you be learning every day for the rest of your life I sure do, and take the journey gladly!

For your tune, I say learn more about automations, and learn sound synthesis. Learn every single effect a DAW has to offer bundled, what they do and actually HOW they do it, and you start putting a lot more things together

Then pass on to the synthesizers: it's exactly the same thing as with effects, but now you have oscillators that generate waveshapes and envelopes and other goodies that are triggered by midi So you feed that into your normal chain, be it filters, EQ, flanger / phaser / delay (other timming effects), saturators, compressors, whatever, in any order you can imagine.

Just search this forum: there are tons of topics on how to synthesize whatever sound you can describe already answered, and I'm sure there a a lot of guys who will answer them again.

On top of that you automate and record. Then automate some more, and record more. Use your mouse to change things around, tweak a bunch of stuff, and record more and automate even more. Then you bring more stuff in!

Your tune has some nice sounding stuff, but it really doesn't go anywhere or do nothing. I can imagine you have a brain full of ideas you want to put out, but the tools are in the way from you mind to the speakers. I hardly use samples, and typically make most of my leads with two or three synths -> it's enough for me! Of course I have some third party ones fur specific tasks here and there but it's really not needed.

I say try listening the the hallucinogen albums, and actually see how the sound is constantly evolving, based on some mathematical rules that were men't to be broken, always shifting and travelling into new pastures, sometimes reaching only you know where. - The song has to be moving, your the master and you have to guide the trip of the listener, so make the tune move as well

Keep it up!           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz

of course you do have a chance, it depends on how much you're willing to put into it. trust me, no one's going to take you seriously if you don't yourself.

I agree that there's tons of information available here, plus there's some good magazines and books you can grab on topics like mixing, synthesis, composition, so forth and so on.
