Okay so i just managed to get a hold of a very cheap used Korg Electribe ER-1 Drumsynth.
This is my first time using hardware and im not sure how to get this to work with cubase!
I have a M-Audio Delta 66 soundcard and i use a MIDI interface USB converter for Midicontrollers.
Do i need a Midi Interface with In/Out ? Also does the ER-1 require a "Driver" ??
Any info is much appreciated..
thanks..

i have used an electibe once without sequencer involved but i guess its like all other midi devices...
So if u have a midi keyboard try:
Keyb.Out to Maudios In
Maudios out to Electribe's in.
Electribe has the classic midi interface(5-pole) and i think your card too.
Make this at first to make it play and then all others.
Then connect your Audio cables.
Electribe's L/R out to Maudio's L/R ,(or mixer's if you got one and then connect mixer to Maudio)
Open your host sequencer.
create a midi track click the object.
You have to assign the objects midi to Maudios midi into the Track properties on your left.
I cant help you with recording in qbase, thats the reason i am using logic.
In logic you have to create an audio input track into the mixer and tell the object to record the midi files u like.
I think it works similar with qubase.
Somebody else help plz? |

no drivers needed, u communicate with the electribe thru midi. no need to attach the midi-out of the electribe to the midi-in of ur soundcard (unless u want to do a sysex dump or if u want the ER to be the master which i wouldn't advise, those korgs aren't the most reliable things, i know mine isn't anyway). Attach ur other hardware to the midi-thru of the korg. The electribes are very good at listening to they're own channel, so they are perfect for daisy-chaining.
in cubase u just make a midi-track, assign the out to the midi-interface ur electribe is attached to and set the midi-channels of both machines on the same channel (fun trick with the EA-1, put both voices on the same channel and get a weird 4-osc bi-filtered synth sounding much better the the voices by themselves). Probably ur ER has a different part for every piece of percussion, and proly u can put them all on different channels. U'll have to make a midi-track in cubase for every channel ur using (and don't be afraid to put 2 parts on the same channel sometimes, it can have great effects). Then connect the audio-out(s) to ur audio-interface and ur set... |
