Mmk so I'm a classically trained musician who has been writing ambient psychedelic influenced electronic music for years, and I thought I'd try my hand at mixing my style with trance. I'm unsure as to whether I'm happy with the outcome or not, I'm sure I'm making a million noob mistakes as I've never delved into mastering and mixing enough in the past, and the end result seems to lack the psychedelic feel of my previous ambient work.
I'm not sure if this fits into any style or could even be considered psytrance in it's current state. My strong point is melody, not rhythm, so my influences are more along the lines of Halluciongen and Astral Projection.
I also don't have studio monitors or even a stereo at the moment, just headphones, so the mixing is quite likely to be ridiculously off.
I've made enough excuses for myself now, here's the track.

i love that oldschool style very much!!!
i'm producing for 1.5 years from scratch now and i'm totally influenced from Astral Projection, Total Eclipse and Halluciongen too.
but psytrance has changed very much in the last 5-6 years imho and i think it's hard to archieve that "standard" production quality (with all those tricks e.g.) just within 2 or 3 years of producing experience.
in my case i'm now stuck with learning/develop very good rythms/drums there are a lot of good melodies in my head but i have heavy probs with rythms too ... up to now i guess it's just that old "you produce what your ear is familiar with" thing.
so i decided to start massive listening to all those new psytrance radios especially dark and progressive tunes and it helps me a lot to understand all those new "flows" and structures and helps me to work out my ear and all those new production stuff.
i believe that (hopefully) someday i can combine all those things and i guess it will all end in dark and progressive tunes ... in my case.
and in my opinion all that could(!) count for you too.
so my advice is :
1.) get good studio monitors - there are lightyears between monitors or just pc-speakers or medium-class headphones. it will give you much more fun and quality during producing!!!
2.) listen a lot to progressive or darkpsy tunes. it will give you a lot of inspiration for (up-to-date) synthesis and song/drum/break/... -structures. try to recreate sound or drum-lines!
3.) combine your current skills with them from 1 and 2 and i promise that a lot of people will love your sound!!!!!!!!
so last but not least i like your stuff very very much and if you can combine it with that up-to-date stuff it will be much more psychedelic than you can imagine now
so i'll stay tuned to listen to your upcoming sounds always! so keep on rockin
i really enjoyed this track. love the old school feel

Gain the melo down , Nice being emotional in your music when produce but there ways
doing that right and you have keep the balance. Kik need work , Bass (There is ?) Cant hear .
Buy a new monitors or better headphones , Seems (From what i have heard from here) will help you alot
You know , Right equipment and quality in your music and studio is the difference between professionalism and amateurism .

The lead is a bit too overwhelming, I'll tone it down a little. Kicks are something I have a hard time with, I'm going to read up some more about them to get them right. I'm a little alarmed if the bass line can't be heard, I'm using good quality Sennheiser headphones and the bass sounds quite clear to me so without studio monitors I'm unsure of how to fix that.
I've been taking the advice of listening to more darkpsy tracks for some inspiration, and it's helping a lot so far, thank you I agree that I need to mix in more modern styles to get it to sound more psychedelic.

nice track!
its hard to get a good balance with headphones ....
try using some speakers as well , they dont have to be great , as long as you know the sound they produce and can translate it to other systems .....
