i still believe if ur just careful about the things u do on the internet ,keep ur antivirus and firewall updated, and have some common knowlege about window ports and internet security tools u could have a very secure computer......

we aint talking about windows VS linux/Unix here man.........i agree unix and linux both are way safer and secure but i still prefer using windows xp......

as long as you've got f-secure anti virus and firewall and update it daily it really doesn't matter what browser you use.. no viruses..
if you ask me firefox is 95% internet explorer.. it lacks about 5% functions that ie delivers and it doesn't give out anything new.. can't even have the print, word, encarta and flashget buttons there..
i'll stick with IE for now.. can't wait to see the google browser thou

You can add, buttons to it. Right click on the empty area on the tool bar and select "customize". You can add the print button for example.
Never used word, encarta and flashget button and don't know what they even do. These are some sort of separate add-ons? There could be similar substitutes for the firefox. I just added a spell checker plug in to my firefox to help me with my problems with the englsiht languagne. W0rks graet!

BS. Firefox works much better than IE. It's faster and has many functions that improve usability (better "find" function, tabs, pop-up blocker, google etc.). |

ok i was able to add the print button but that was it.. can't add anything else there.. flashget is a download manager.. a good one..
firefox takes way longer to start than ie
only new function i see is the tabbed browsing.. which to tell the truth doesn't differ at all from opening new windows now does it?
the pop-up blocker in ie is flawless and i've got the google toolbar in it aswell..

okay i changed my mind, it's just as good as internet explorer, however there's one vital thing it lacks..
you know when you're at say f:\thisand\that and decide you want to browse the internet you just type www.theplaceyouwanttogo.com to the adress bar.. and whooos explorer becomes internet explorer.. it doesn't become firefox.. now i'm way too lazy to start>firefox
so i think i'll stick to IE..
nice try nevertheless..
what's up with the update sites? they really don't work.. slow as the evolution of full on..

There is an extension called flashgot for firefox that's probably the same thing (except it's for firefox). |

ok dude....u win....  .....firefox is indeed better.....just tell me one thing.....i use DAP .....now how do i use a download manager with firefox .... i installed the flash got plugin but cant get it working......is there a way i can download things by just clicking the link.....

well to update u guys firefox has now gaineg 8.69% of the market share......... internet explore has dropped..... i use firefox i think more people should support free software.....kill IE's monoiply....

Oh and Internet Explorer costs money? Dude if you say "support free software" then you better be using some linux distro or netbsd or freebsd or smth as your os. And Konqueror is teh best browser
