High People!

I have used my fireface 800 before and no problem, i just formated my pc and installed everything, a phew days after i noticed some serious "dropouts"/crackling, even just when i was listening to a cd on Media Player!
The Fireface 800 has a Data checking, detecting errors via PCI/FireWire and dispalying them in the settings dialogue.
I believe the problem is in the Pc with it's PCI/FireWire, the data must get lost on it's way to the sound card and beacuse of that Fireface shows "Errors"!
The manual of the sound card refers this issue and says that "FireWire uses OHC-compatible controllers that have not been optimized for audio, no matter from wich manufacturer they are"
"Due to insufficient buffering with FireWire controllers, single peak loads on the PCI bus can allready cause loss of one or more data packs. This is independent of the manufacturer and no RME problem".
They offer a very clear explanation but no answer.lol

So, does anybody know how i can solve this issue and have a undisturbed PCI BUS ?
Hope your experience can tell me what to do!

If in order to help me anybody need to know technical expecifications, just ask!
Thank You.

Well, it was working fine until you formated.

Try updating all your drivers.

Are you installing the same version of windows that you already had? Some cracked versions don't come with everything in its place, or not optimized for audio etc etc           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz

just be sure, that you got the correct the IEEE1394 (firewire) driver for the controller on the mainboard ...
probably the windows standard driver does not support *bus mastering*

Its a PCI based IEEE1394.

Like everyone else said do a second check for drivers on all the manufacturers websites just to make sure they are up-to-date

Check also if there perhaps is a IRQ conflict

I's not possible to right click on it because the only option i get is "continue" wich takes to windows Genuine thing and then starts installing it!!
I tried more than 10 websites, forums and it either takes me to the same place or it says "the page you requested cannot be found"!
I am have sent two emails to RME and got no help!
I am freakin' out with this bullshit!
Peace for all.

there's various ways:

a) revert your 1394 files to (previous) SP1 version, like described on the RME website.

b) upgrade to SP3, since that patch should be contained in there.

c) just search your PC for WindowsXP-KB885222-v2-x86-ENU.exe
and save it to floppy / USB stick in order to transfer it to your studio PC.

on the M$ website there is no such notice.
why download from some shady source!?

it should be already on your local harddisc in /WindowsUpdate/ directory once you installed it.

just open explorer ... press F3 ... and enter filename
