I just got new headphones and the Firebox's headphone amp isn't too great for high impedance cans..any ideas on how I could connect it to a headphone amp without putting another op amp in the way?

I need the main line outs for my monitors and I don't have any mixer or routing device between the Firebox and amp with a non variable output.

The only thing I can think of is to add a line out to the amp, but I'd rather not.

No, and that isn't at all my problem. Keep the discussion in your thread, I was just about to post there.           You believe in the users?

Go download this http://www.presonus.com/media/downloads/FireBox%20Software.dmg (MAC), or http://www.presonus.com/media/downloads/FireBox_Installer_246.zip (PC) and in the firebox mixer, route your headphones through 3/4, and have your monitors set to Main 1/2. You can possibly plug something into the headphone jack which you would have your headphones routed through. Not sure if it will help you, but its an idea.

75-150 ohms is a generally a better range for sound card headphone amps.

Ok..what are you saying?

I know that's usually a better range, so I built a headphone amp. It was just a connection problem.

Depends on their sensitivity too..when I had the K 701's, they were around 60 ohms but still extremely inefficient, and the Firebox definitely couldn't have driven them.

Ethereal, I just did what you suggested. I had already had the software installed but never needed to use it, so I didn't know that I could do that. I just routed the headphone out to another line out. Just a temporary fix until I can tweak my DAC a bit more and add a line out..           You believe in the users?

Very true.

I have read about others getting the firebox and then having to change headphones.
