Open Records is proud to present the first of our exclusive digital releases in 2008, with Fiord’s Shine On EP.
Smoldering from the infamous Slowburning Studios at the bottom of the South Pacific this sultry electronic duo have been writing captivating beats and storming dance floors across the globe for the past 8 years.
As Antix, brothers Barton and Hayden Strom walked all over the trance scene, touring the world, playing 100's of live shows, captivating audiences far and wide and racking up tons of frequent flyer miles.
After releasing 3 studio albums on Iboga and taking home a runner up prize in this year's Beatport awards, they are some of the hottest producers in the progressive scene.
With the birth of their new baby FIORD there is ONE rule – there are no rules. Their sounds reek of a fresh approach, producing a textured timeless rhythm far hotter than any branding iron ready to stamp its mark.
Taking on elements of techno, minimal, tech-house and combining with vocal elements and live instrumentation, Fiord has already seen hit tracks on labels like eVapour8, Beef, Tribal Vision, Flow Vinyl and here on Open Records.
The original mix of Shine On is a slowly building tech-house number filled with warm atmospheres, deep funky grooves and quirky stabs that are guaranteed to move any dancefloor. Fellow Kiwis Drake & Orsen provide a more stripped-backed alternative, with both tracks versatile tools that will suit both DJs and home listeners alike.

Had the chance to hear this one recently... another amazing release from Fiord and the Open Records crew - both keep going from strength to strength.

Been listening to both of these for the last few days. The original is an amazing little number. So Smooth, Seductive and flavoursome. The percussion and flow of this track are outstanding, and it has a nice old school "progression" feel to it also. Very nice meeting place for Progressive Trance and House.
Keen to hear this one late afternoon in the hot Aussie sun.
The RMX is really nice also, pretty much all for the same reasons, bit sneakier than the original.

Fiord are one of my favorite bands at the moment, really love the music those guys make! Very dark and crunchy with interesting building in every track or remix they made!
Good luck with this release Fiord & Open Records.
