Sure B is the 128kbps, but what a crap choice of test material.
On any normal track the difference will be much more obvious since it will be more packed in the whole spectrum.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

exactly...

@spindrift. this is a stupid test and its easy to find in headfones or monitors.. but in hifi speakers is tricky!           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

I actually found that quite hard after a few beers, but I don't think Opera really covers a huge frequency range really.

I went to an Opera a couple of weeks ago and it was so weird.. I kept expecting a bass line to drop at any moment.

cool test ive done it few times here to friends and 90% of them notice loss of quality in 160kbps vs. WAV.

on laptop (mono with freq range of 150hz-15000hz) i couldnt notice diffrence in this test , but if thats the way you listen to music then realy dont bother spend money on cds lol

lets prepare test file (wider freq range , and better to be psytrance) for trance section on the forum , to see if peaple without high-end speakers and trained ear can tell WAV from mp3 , maybe 160 is pritty standart download quality this days still?
can someone offer webspace and program this ?

@elad
I prepared such a test a while ago on here, maybe you can dig it up with the search.
It was 192kbps VBR (the standard among ripper groups) vs 320kbps vs wav and no-one could tell them apart consistently.

I was a bit surprised myself I was not able to tell which one was 192kbps.
Below 192 kbps mp3 starts to show it's flaws easily on most material though, and I think I would be able to spot a 160kbps if it's CBR.

hebrew stuff is mostly explanations on what i did there.
anyway, each of the files on the end has 3 versions - wav, mp3 and ogg. guess which is which

Most of the mp3s that seem to be floating around are 220 VBR. I'd be interested to see it vs WAV.

Rebus=)
In AKG K141 Monitor headphones i don't hear the difference in most examples. In B.P. Empire "B" example seems not to be a wav. Will check it on monitors tomorrow - very interesting=)

On my hd25 i couldnt tell the difference between a b and c of the vibrasphere one

Well, i still play only wav because thats what i buy @ beatport but i guess when its only available in 320 i will buy it also after this experiment

And i think on a big soundsystem you are likely to hear the difference more fast.           SQL: http://www.myspace.com/sqlmusic
