I just added a Poly Evolver keyboard to my setup and of course the filters sound great with absolutuely no stepping over long sweeps, but i have to rotate the knob several times to complete a full sweep. Maybe there's a filter curve setting or some other parameter I could check.
Those of you working with analog or digital hardware synths - do you use software filters to process your audio files or do you use the filters on board your synth. Do you route audio files to your synths filters as well?
I mean if you filter sweep from within your synth or apply as a VSTi effect to an audio clip, does it matter?

I always use the filters on the hardware synths. All my synths have filters that work with ranges encoded in one turn of the knob. (And they don't step usualy).
If you use envelope modulation on the filter (most probably) then yes, it will make a big difference to the sound. The filters, their characetristics and their envelope settings are integral parts of the sound usualy.
I might add another _extra_ software filter afterwards though ...
