Hi i have the following issue...

I have both kick n bass sent to a group channel so then i can eq, compress, etc... both of 'em, the thing is, when i want to apply an automated filter i insert Equim or any filter vst with reso/q control and i then automate HP or LP, i use BYPASS on/off automation to activate the filter since i normally use Q values i don't want it to be on all the time even if cutoff point is not moving and the god damn BYPASS automation is not precise, it would cause glitch sounds even on renders, sometimes it takes a little longer for it to go on/off and well it just doesn't work the way i want.

Other method i have used is bouncing the selected bassline and then filtering it in another channel but... i find myself EQing bass during the whole track production so most of the times when i bounce and i change my bassline EQ you would hear the difference on the filtered part.

So i guess what im asking here is your methods for filtering bassline with hi reso values without bouncing/rendering, filter VST BYPASS automation should work great but it doesn't ant that, that pisses me off.

help, n thx

Yeah,
thats an old problem,i know.
Some automations like program changes, bypass on/off should be done when the track is not playing...
That sucks...

if the filter plug-in has a wet/dry control you can try automating that one instead of bypass           Monitoring devices, know where you go

you could use a quadrogroup as kind of a crossfade ... this way you can hook up a stereo bus to front and another to rear... automate this crossfade on breaks. should get rid of any nasty clicks while bypassing effects too

hope this helps m8

use a send bus and then set the send levels.
filterbank2 is a good filter for this.

You could just bounce, filter and leave it as is until the track is finished and then replace the filtered section with the definitive version. That seems better than getting frustrated with imprecise automation...
