hey guys,
im looking for a filter plug in with differtent filter types (like formant etc...).
a integrated cutoffbutton and resonance also would be nice if there is something like that.
so i can use the filter on each vst instrument i have got additional to the integratet filters. hope you understand what i mean.
im not happy with the filters of some of my vst´s, but i love them for their other options.

You can use Volcano,Timless,the tbk filters are cool too. or my favorite the man. the god of all filters.
Antares FilterVst omg.
or u can allways use glitch or effectrixx wich are really good too. |

ill check those, any sugestions how to use those "external2 filters?
you use it at audio files? can i use it on midi too?
any cool tricks?

I use Sonalksis for general lowpass, highpass, etc.
But if I want to have multiple filters running from the same effect, Fabfilter Volcano is really good. There's a ton of cool presets as well. and it's very clean sounding and easy to use.

You want advice on filtering?
Filter everything, have your percusion grouped and high pass them on climax, bassline can come lowpassed before a drop, also add bitcrusher or distortion over your filtering for extra crazyness.
Add a trancegate over the filtering or use somekind of step filter, add reverb after your filtered signal and use phaser over that for deep spacey motion feel.
Use any kind of filter / pitch delay after a filtered signal also for interesting stuff.
In a break, run a full sweep LP / HP over a 1bar synthlead before the bass drops for common "fullonisraeli astrix feel".
Automate filter's cutoff over 4 or 8 bars for example to slowly rise but the last bar make it drop again in a much more quick way for variation and sweep's finale.
Well be creative, filtering is probably one of the most used effects in all kinds of genres this days, it is very interesting how stuff like sweeping a filter through audiospectrum will almost always sound pleasant and natural.
You can also use filtering to make space for other elements to come in. Or to create cool Lfo fx, ambiences, swells, squelchs and all kind of interesting modulations. Always take into account what frecuencies you are currently affecting (cutoff / reso)

I tossed a filter on some leads, fxs and pads last night after reading this and it really spiced up my sounds. I really like volcano's options for different types of filters and 12, 24 and 48 slopes.
