I filter the kick only as a special effect in a specific part of the track. Regarding the bass i filter it only when i use a second one besides the main bass sound.

I actually do some filtering/eq work on all of my basslines. I don't like too much hi end buzz and I like to cut off anything lower that 20 hz to avoid any parts conflicting with my kick drum. I also occasionally notch eq my bassline around my kick, (and vice versa occasionally) I would definitely suggest playing with it untill you feel it sounds right...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

After having EQued and compressed the bassline i like to pur an Antares Filter and filter the sound to the frequency i like most! It's a great effect also during construction! And Antares is best filter i ever had!           Your sound, is your music, is your soul keep them all on the right track!
