Frankly it's just an awesome thought that music can be free without anybody being able to control it as a business.
Yeah to bad for some artists and labels, but if you can't control it then what can you really do about it? You can't expect the world to not download when society sort of learns to accept it and most people are doing it. Like get real, the only thing that can stop this is a copyright control system that works.
In Mexico in every street market you can find booths where you can buy burned CDs without the proper copyright. You can even find psychedelic trance in some of those, and that makes me HAPPY. Because I like the lower class being exposed to that great music and I know that they simply DO NOT have the money to buy the real CDs. No sherlock it's not an excuse, its just the reality. Here go live on a 3rd world country minimum wage and then see how well you preach about your fucking copyright ethics.
And uncontrolled music sharing/stealing does not mean music will die out. Things will just be different, but new good music will continue to be made, perhaps with different attitudes/intentions. But music will not die. Specially since computers are getting cheaper and more people can make it without the need of a big studio.
Music will survive, however the attempts to control it through copyright may not. Oh well, what a pity.. hehe. I guess the world will just have to suffer with free music.
PS: I BUY most of my CDs online from psyshop or saikosounds. I have downloaded a few tracks without paying but mostly mainstream stuff. And I am also trying to make music in a computer. |
