Just a tip I got from PKS about Biosphere and his new self named project.

http://www.discogs.com/release/810700

This seems to be a very special approach imo.
Is this something unusual, or are there more established artists out there with a passion for field recordings?

Hmm, can't recall any at the moment...this album sounds really exciting though:

from biospheres homepage:
Quote:
These recordings were made by Jenssen while climbing Cho Oyu in Tibet in September and October 2001. Cho Oyu is the sixth highest mountain in the world at 8201 meters, situated in the Himalayas near Mount Everest, on the Tibetan/Nepalese border. This album may be regarded as the soundtrack to the film of this journey, also containing some of the source material for the most recent Biosphere album, Dropsonde.

I know I'm gonna get myself a copy of this

Check this site out http://www.fieldrecordings.net it's a friend of mine, he uploaded a few of my mahakumbh field on it (inde (india)section)also videos, very neat concept he wants some sent from all around. Maybe send him your audio moments when captured. Which part of the world ur from just for fun?

He's choosing some randomly to stream on a field radio also..I suggested him to do a global real time stream of field recordings. Interesting visual artist too.

I wish i'd find more chilled field beats out there, i mix and process a lot of field nowadays in dj sets and tracks of my own, i like to isolate some elements the most. As far as established artists, i've been inspired a lot by early muslimgauze. Rainforest bioacoustics always fascinated me too. But indeed the more you invest, the more crystal clear is the sound.

Looking forward to hear your stuff out.           there is no holy wars, only holy cows

Hehe, believe me this guy can make it way more complex than this with flash. Yeah you can send him something like i said, but i noticed there's a lot of french on the site so just visit the ''input'' section and click on upload. Give it a try with what you got.           there is no holy wars, only holy cows

There's quite a few artist who've mixed field rerodings with their own music - Have a look at Blissful Virtuous who did a lot of recording in Africa

http://www.blissfulvirtuous.com/

I seem to recall Adham Shaikh & Seb Taylor did quite a bit of field recordings for their albums as well

interesting stuff and links

i mainly draw my sounds and tunes out of on the fly field records

not always the best quality depending on the gear you got at hand but it gives something unique imho...
