What easily portable equipment do ppl recommend for getting field recording/interviews/spoken pieces on the run?

I spend a lot of my spare time hanging out and helping a homeless bloke, and he has a very profound view of the world. He's agreed to let me sample him in my music in the future (don't worry, he'll receive quality care/payment for his services).

using this one...

nice and compact, records in 24bit wav or flac, though battery life is terrible, lasts for about 4-5 hrs.

Been using my Zoom h2 for a long time now, and I love it to bits. Cheap, small, durable, great battery life and of course the recordings are awesome.

Recordings do need a bit of de-noising, especially if they're from outside and its windy and you are only using the standard wind sock.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe
