Festivals in Greece

I was just wondering after this summer...4 festivals happened in greece,whith no attendance,no support from locals and no visits from people abroad.why this happens?don't you think greece,which in club scene psytrance has the 1st place the last years,deserves a descent festival? |

Had a talk about this with Dick Trevor and Liquid Ross in Sol Festival when they returned from Aurora.
They had a great time and Dick was emotional playing Samothraki again after a decade, but they said that, that was the last time. Some of their friends/artists, had serious trouble returning home, let along not getting paid.
The general consensous is that artists play Greek festivals at their own risk nowdays and are very reluctant to play another Greek festival.

for me most of the summer events that took place in greece the last years are 3-4-5days big or small outdoor party..good or bad effort you cant name it a festival..and ofcourse in some of them i had very good time despite all the difficulties but for all those that have attended festivals abroad knows that a real festival is NOT all about main stage and drugs.. unfortunatelly deep psy-culture, respect and love is missing from the majority of the greek scene organisers and attenders as well..
and for those that are really into these they cannot think make a descent fest because u must have a lot of spare money to prepay all the djs to come and play in greece after Teos special treatment..to have the means to handle all the fucking police and the support of the locals and bla bla bla..very big risk like iraklis took in olympia but at list when things went wrong he had the descenty to stand at the door look you in the eyes and say sorry i dont have 5€ to give you back..and that was respect for me!!
as for the shame of the last aurora what to say first.. it was just a disgrace from all parts..this mother f** took us years behind!!
but i have one question..if the same person make the aurora fest next year and it will be the only one for summer in Greece, what do you think the people will do attend or not..?? i think we all know the answer..
Have u ever dreamed of a vacation in the bottom of the ocean...?;?;? |

after all, i think that is our fault cause we're attending and supporting those "wanna be promoters".
So, we took what we deserve (something like our goverment for example)....

in my opinion we call a festival a gathering of people and fusion of activities...in our case arts and culture...music is the main,other activities can be combined but finally for psy,it's what above said,a main stage rockin and a chill out one...chillin.that's what people need,at least in fests in greece.mcf tried to do something more but failed.none came to support alternative stages whith other music styles,theater acts ,movies and more...aurora did it the bad way,as i heard and read,showed a bad image abroad.hybrid festival had some potential,no support from people too,and psyculture at least has a target group people who come to listen dark but...busted!what i want to say is that every fest had it's own problems and all together all the possible problems a festival can get.imo in greece should take place one and only big fest whith collaboration of people who are dealing whith this seriously... |

EXACTLY!!!
I said that about a big festival but also about single night events two times in two different meetings with various promoters and most of them dissagreed for their own reasons (i dont want to work with that guy,i dont like that guy,i work different than you guys,i have different mentality,etc etc). And imagine i am supposed to be the most commercial promoter in greece at the moment and the one who brings all the time the same and same big names in clubs with high prices and strict security and bla bla bla bla.
Well not much more to add from my side i guess.

2011 was the year of private festivals in Greece.lol.at every single fest max number of people 800.except Aurora i think.so whos blame is that?ppls?i don't think so.maybe one day in Greece ppl that are active in this scene(i mean psy music)must work together in order to organize something even better than the old and unforgettable Samothraki dance fest.i'm not the one to say what should be done.i just say my opinion.to end this id like to say that its at least embarrassing for the artists not getting payed the money they were supposed to take or even nothing..wtf....stop supporting all those so called promoters cause its our fault as well for whats going on in psy scene here in Greece.
