Faxi Nadu and Friends - Star One (Remixes) is the new masterpiece delivered by Yaron Eshkar aka Faxi Nadu, presenting remixes of his track "Star One" made by some really talented names who you're all probably gonna hear a lot about in the near future. I listened to the cd these last days just after I got it and this review has the aim of bringing you a brief idea of what's into this release.
1. Faxi Nadu's Original Galactic Trouble Mix (Israel)
The cd-opening track is Faxi's own original mix, presenting what Faxi does best: atmospheric mood and deep ambientations, since the very beginning of it until the end. Progressive intro which grows up with atmospheres and bassline until the first kick comes with a groovy but still deep bass. The whole track is a pure deep trip with lots of atmospheres and pads and a combination of nice voice samples and minimal drums. Around 2:35 he stops in a quick break to build it all again until what I most like in all kinds of tracks appear for the first time, around 3:53: a clean and groovy open hihat, which last so short unfortunately, but comes again later around the end. The track keeps then its 100% atmospheric and deep mood under a nice synth and drums work until the end. Nice job!
2. Hoax's Empires Fall Remix (UK)
One of my favorite ones. The track starts like making you feel that the deep atmospheric mood is still the guideline, until around 2:37 a wicked synthline comes and takes over the place, together with the groovy and tech open hats sequence, who come earlier and last longer this time. Nice break, using the vocal lines who are the trademark of the Star One track like "you found my weakness... I prefer to shoot a moving target!". Nonstop excitement, great construction and dancefloor feeling, which will surely make it rather in the midle of the night or in the twilight moments.
3. LSDan's Paranoid remix (UK)
This is the freak-dark style representant remix of the cd, will surely please the dark psytrance lovers a lot. Many monophonic and liquid texture leads, creating a kind of "lost-in-the-forest trip" during the whole track, the bassline notes change during the track, making serious grooves, even so it doesn't sound fluffy or cheesy at anytime, far from that, which I found interesting. A very useful tool for all darkpsy djs. The track style reminds me some well known names at some moments.
4. Elmooht's Portals Remix (Israel)
Yaron Eshkar comes again, with his experimental/ambient side project to bring us 3:25 min of pure deeeeeepness! A combination of long pads and atmospheres, no kick, bass or any drums, just deep and deep and deep sounds echoing in your head. That's a trip!
5. Noized's Nano Battles Remix (Germany)
My other favorite one. Practically no intro, starts already alive and kicking. Very round kick and bass base, no sharpness, and lots of samples harmonically combined in a way that builds real dark feeling, at 2:52 a new synthline is born, and grows faster until it takes the whole place and leads the trip. 4:21, another super freak synth that I can't describe exactly, very well worked and automatized. The point here are those really nice and present synthlines, which I missed in the previous tracks. No big breaks, just layers after layers pretty well combined. Great work.
6. Fright Rate's Hero Remix (South Africa)
This guy from SA, who've made a really nice work in the last Faxi Nadu Remixes cd, this time in a more dark fullon direction, more than the other tracks, so it might please some fullon lovers, some israeli synths pumping together do it under a very clean mix, without the need of falling into a cheesy appeal. Even so, it also has some deep and atmospheric parts that mantain the track project spirit. Not the track that would fit better in my sets, for example, but it's for sure a nice tune also.
7. Skyhighatrist's Hovercraft Remix (UK)
This one in my opinion is the morning psychedelic version of Star One, the groovy bassline (that breaks the sequence of straight basslines from the previous tracks), detuned glides, crystal pads, a robotic synthline and a nice vocalization of the sample "why would you do this?" that runs thru all over the track practically reminds me of some really psychedelic morning grooves done by Eat Static or Prometheus in the old times, a nice tool for a cloudy morning open air venue.
8. Signal:Noise's Dream On Remix (UK)
The kick drum and some tribal percussions open the path for this "electronica" style interpretation of the project. This is not my cup of tea so it's a bit hard to describe the mood on it, but it's something different from the usual for sure. Some melodic leads and acid lines running together, progressive breaks and uplifting turnings make a track completely different from the other ones. Some may like it, some may not. I prefer to let ya'll see for yourselves.
9. Sickmoth's Submerge Remix (UK)
At last, what I was missing so far, a breakbeat experimental track to finish this great work. Long pads and accurate drum worx that would easily remember some of those Big Beat heroes like Prodigy or Chemical Brothers. Maybe the synthlines could be made of less obvious textures, and could be even more explored into the experimentalism concept, but it's still a nice combination of melodies and breakbeat drums.
This release is again a very good work from Faxi Island and it's a must have for those who are looking forward underground non-commercial mainstream stuff, it's got originality and great ideas. I strongly recommend.

This is a great release and cool project - it was a lot of fun doing this remix of a very good track. I think all tracks became a blent of the original track and personal influences of the artists, what makes this release a memorial of unity and personality
And thanks FaceHead, i am glad that u liked my remix
