Well the most usual waveforms are sine, saw and pulse for basslines and the combination between those three. Despite the binding of the two elements, every track has its own character and every kick needs "its bass", but most of the people i think must have some favorite sounding combination..
this goes of course both for single patch and layered bass from more patches
my favorites
(1st for sub - 2nd for mids)
pulse-pulse
sine-pulse
saw-sine
pulse-saw

Isn't trilogy a ROMpler anyway? But yeah, the real one cause it involves the proprietary Roland IR3109 VCF chip which sounds much better than Trilogy's software filter and you can choose how much of the sub oscillator you will mix in the patch.

That's why I aksed. If you have free time, would you care to compare and upload? just a small piece of bass. The same notes, the same patch with sh and trilogy?

Am I the only one that doesn't like Trilogy's envelopes?
although I am trying Trilogy samples in other samplers and I am finding I like Trilogy on it's own |

I guess you are not. Its all the matter of taste (and bass). I couldn't make any bass on Nord Lead2 for example.
