My favourites are (apologies for the length!):
En Voice - Hold The Universe:
"Macrocosm and microcosm is the philosophical idea that goes back to the ancient Greek. It says that all parts of the universe, large and small, are arranged in the same way. After one of the great philosophers had brought up the concept, other people realised that it can be found everywhere in nature, and that the same pattern repeats itself in all levels of reality. What was true back then is still true today. Important events do not only happen on a big scale. They also take place in worlds that are so small that men can hardly see them with the naked eye. Every life holds a universe. You're a part of something wonderful. Every life holds a universe. You're a part of something wonderful. Everyone is a part of the whole. Everything is linked to everything else. Each of your actions will affect your surroundings. What you do on a small scale will have an influence on the whole world."
I don't know where the sample is from (unless someone can tell me!), but I love the voice and the way it works superbly with the music.
Ibojima - Higher Energy:
"As a hippie, you sort of-- we said tune in, turn on and drop out. That means get out of the mainstream of culture and pursue your own creative instincts, your own creative urges, and, uh, it was also separating yourself from all the things that had shaped you previously and to create a new self, and so also as a sadhu you separate yourself from the things that shaped you previously and then create a new self, on a higher plane, on a higher vibration."
- Swamy William from "Last Hippie Standing"
Gataka Vs Aquatica - Higher Level:
"I acknowledge the privilege of being alive in a human body at this moment, endowed with senses, memories, emotions, thoughts, and the space of mind in its wisdom aspect. It's the prayer of my innermost being to realise my supreme identity in the liberated play of consciousness. Now is the moment. Here is the place of liberation. Witness the contents of mind, the visions and sounds, the thoughts, as clouds passing through the vast expanse, the sky-like ..."
- Alex Grey from "The Vast Expanse"
Prahlad - Homage To R A Moog:
"We do a lot of talking at home about the nature of religion and spirituality. We're both learning a lot about the nature of reality and, uh, the connections we have, uh, with realities that are at a different level than what we experience every day here in the material world. I think that's changed the way I think about instruments too. The more you get into material, the matter, the more you realise that all there is in matter is energy. There's a blur between energy and consciousness. All material is consciousness to some extent or another. All material can respond, to some extent or other, to vibrations of energy that is different from the energy you learn about in physics. There's all sorts of reliable information now on people and animal being able to affect the operations of machines, even of computers, and I think that has greater potential than what goes on between a musician and his instrument."
- Bob Moog, from "Moog: The Documentary"
Psynina - Silence:
"Silence. One does not need to go looking for silence. You are just realising that everything consists of silence. Everything is swimming in silence. All sound is swimming in silence. That is the sound of reality. And the mind that is thinking can never know how silence operates. Everything you see, when you are looking in the stars, looking in the galaxy, it was all created without a thought. Silence did it, not thought. There is another intelligence operating. There was no belief. There was no should, no shouldn't. There was no good ideas, no bad ideas. But what was created was of a precision and complexity that minds have been trying to understand for millennia, and still can't catch up with. Therefore a mind cannot know what life is like when life is not lived according to the mind. The only thing that mind can know is life lived according to mind. It cannot know otherwise. So the question is: what is true without thought? And there is a great big emptiness and an enormous silence."
- From Adyashanti's "Spontaneous Awakening"
"I acknowledge the privilege of being alive in a human body at this moment, endowed with senses, memories, emotions, thoughts, and the space of mind in its wisdom aspect." |
