Look there is absolutely no problem with Aghori being upset that he wasn't given what was promised...Whether he is in it for the $$$ or not isnt anyones business, he deserves what he was promised...
But i dont see why Aghori has to come here and whine like a cranky baby, bro there is a PM system, email etc.
People have already had 1 bad experience with Namaha in Kodi, and yet you guys go to the next gig and cry? I dont understand. As Adi rightly said ask for an advance... Have some self respect and make it clear that your performance is worth $$$, and hence put up your price a bit and ask for half advance and tickets atleast...Its not that hard..
Anyways hope this gets sorted out. Im sure this thread will grow  |

quit flaming him man .. that dark sun was a scam and he got ripped of bad and has every right to come here and warn others who are serious about this .. this filthy little `scene` will go nowhere if we don't respect our own artists .. i heard all the firangs got their travel sorted while our guys were nicely told to fuckoff  .. and some of the new dj kids didn't mind at all .. weird ! .. respect urself guys .. and your artists .. whats with this colonial hangover slave mentality ? shame

If this is going to be the attitude, that make losses and moving on and doing nothing professional then we will never have a successful music scene in here.
The scene should instead try to be more professional and sort everyone out after an event. In this fashion we will slowly build upto to be a healthy music scene just like some developed scenes abroad. Having the attitude that this india and the scene should be always screwed for the artists will eventually take a toll on high potential artists as they will never have any encouragement and stages to perform. Music production and performance requires good gear and good sound system. The artists should be given a fair compensation, so that they can represent our community on a global level as well.
If the local scene is healthy and viable, even the crowds will turn up in huge numbers and we will become a real music collective rather than scattered music enthusiasts.
It is important to be a real music collective, this will ensure that the talent artists have will be nurtured properly and in return the audience will appreciate the show more than the trips they are on..
As for washing dirty laundry in public, believe it or not we are not an organised music scene. Isratrance is the only place where all the artists, labels and organisers actually connect. If some issues affect all the parties involved, it is not possible to solve such issues in PMs and personally, it just takes too long and often people ignore such strong signals. We as a music collective also live far away and hardly meet so it is impossible to have meetings to dicuss stuff maturely and due to this problem some immature people are also a part of the scene believe it or not.
I'm only requesting this thread because I feel it is important to make a strong scene in India since we do have talent and it will wither away into nothingness if certain policies are not changed in event management for our industry.
People who know me, will know that I am a chilled out humble guy. But my kindness can not ofcourse be taken for granted. I can't get violent as its not my nature but atleast I have the right to voice my concerns to the community since there is indeed a relationship between the community and me, and i feel it is not just to deny myself or my audience of my music in future, just because of Faulty organisers.

Point well noted. So from here on why not make it a standard procedure that artists demand half of playing charges + tickets in advance? So if this requirement is met, an artist at least has some feeling of security right. And if you choose not to ask for advance and travel on your own expenses, you only have yourself to blame.
I think this 50% advance + flight tickets is a good idea if implemented properly & diligently followed as a rule. This is also how the relationship between labels + artists should work imo..

Sadly even nice people who have every good intention of making a nice party fail to deliver their performance when it comes to live action on the scene.
They have to be open for critisism, if the artists can be critisized for their music, so do the organisers deserve every bit of it for their orchestration of an event.
Regarding demanding half the money and advance -
What can you do when your name is on the flyer already and you have accepted the deal. And the other person who had previously sorted you out is screwing up this time. I have been supporting the crew to the fullest and even play without advance coz my past experience was nice (expecting to get sorted anyways since their is certain trust from past experience). Well enough of that for me now I guess..
If the organiser knows that payment is not possible for the event, this has to be conveyed to the artist before itself and the artist should not be abused like the way its been recently. Specially if there has been previous relationship with the organiser, often trust is the only thing that binds people for a party, and when its broken it speaks a lot about the quality of people and their organisation.
As for Namaha recs crew, i don't think i want to call you, you have to call me, its your turn to make a show. i made a show at ure event and played for you all night, is this what i get in return, running after you! i wasn't given my return ticket! the goa code should always apply, if your charging entrance for everyone, you pay the dj, if your not you dont... as the dj if you endup getting screwed over, you can only have yourself to blame... |
