Fatali - Interview on E-Mag Teknasia (France)
http://www.teknasia.com/article.php?id_article=412

Hello Eitan, please can you tell us more about yourself?

Hello there, my name is Eitan Carmi, born in the northern part of Israel in the sacred city Nazareth Elite. I was always music and music was me! Since the first time I touched a piano I liked the idea that you can produce such sounds and harmonics with your hands and really express yourself. I started to play keyboards when I was very young and after that I started with drums for 3 years. I can definitely say that my first true love was electronic music. I sold my drums when I was 14 and bought a pc and started to full around with these trackers (dos. software) that used to be so popular those days.

When and how did you get in contact with the music?

Since the first time I heard trance when I was 13 I knew that this was my destiny! I liked the culture, the whole idea and of course the MUSIC! It was from a cassette i got by mistake (it was quirk) and that’s about it, since that day everything started (or was already there?…)

What was the determinative experience which lead you to the Psytrance scene?

I think its the way u touch the ppl and the vibes u get. I never felt and saw something like it, i like to touch that way and make ppl smile and dance to my music. There’s nothing like expensing a sunrise/sunset with the right music, i think this what generally made me want to do it!

Do you have any musician qualification besides the electronic dance music?

As i said before, i started to learn and play with music at a very young age. I also produced a few songs with a singer & guitarist in my studio and i hope to do more of this stuff in the future.

Where and what was your first party experience where you could show your music?

My 1st party was when i was 13 , i don’t know how they let me in but i thank them for that.
I felt right away that i want to be the one leading the morning someday and i started to work on my music 24/7. I was a resident for 2 years (from 15 to 17) in a club here in the north and they helped me to get bookings in open-air events in the north of Israel. After that i took it to the next level which was releasing my 1st album 'Moments 'in 2003 and going international.

Tell me about you artist name please, what is behind it?

The name Fatali Comes From the combination of “Fate” in English which mean Destiny
and “li” which means “mine” in Hebrew, and then u got Fateli so we took off the E and insert an A letter I truly believe that to create trance music is my real destiny! My sister helped me to get to this conclusion btw

What technical equipment/software do you use for producing?

I use Dynaudio Bm6 passive studio monitors, Crown CTS 600 studio Amp, Samson active monitors for reference, Luna 2 soundcard, Korg MS 2000 analogue synth, Pent 4 with 2 gigs ram, 4 hard drives (200 gig each), Zoom Fx Proccesor, Behringer Tube Compressor, Behringer 12 multi input's, 27' LCD Monitor +17' Control Monitor and i just build a new studio with specially made acoustic which took me 2 months to build but now its up and ready to work. I have all possible plugins + many instruments.

What is your philosophy in the studio? (method of working)

I usually build a huge pattern with kick, bassline, synths lines, loops, Fx etc
then slowly build the track until i feel its the right sound & story i want. Sometimes i get some melody or sound going in my head so i 1st play/record it and then on it build the rest, In the past i used to finish a track in few days or a week, but today its not happening before 3-4 weeks. The answer is after so many tracks i produced, today its very important for me that they will sound with a real Fatali Touch. It takes few weeks till i’m happy and its sounds FAT!

Do you have any plans for a new album/compillation in the future?

There's a remix project produced by me which will include lots of surprises and only huge productions with some of the best prog/full on artists such as Son Kite, Lish, Liquid Soul, Protoculture, Atomic Pulse ... The album will be released around july/august !

Next party, where you will play?

I’m launching these days my new project in Israel in a few parties with the main one happening this weekend in a huge swimming pool (2000 ppl capacity) and a weekend after i’m off to Drops reflections festival in Austria, Tshitraka festival Germany, Cosmic wedding Switzerland, Psy files festival Turkey, S.O.S festival Japan and then i’m back to Israel in the end of Aug for another 2 parties and again, Brasil and Mexico tour in September.

A last word for the team Teknasia and TranceLoad?

thanks for your support! You doing a great job . Keep up the good work and spread the electronic music as much as u can. Cheers!
