one of the avantage is for transparence with "timing" ,"tightness" you have to try to get the picture, it s hard to express sound with words .
linear phase are note made to be used like minimum phase, you can t cut or boost much , you can t notches , but it can be usefull for tone shaping ,aslo the transient "smoothing" that can happen is not necessray a bad thing imo ,as sometimes it hapened i got a more analog sound when i used lp even if it dont exist in analog i enjoyed what it does to transients.. while sometimes i really don t like. (quality of the plug used can make a difference, when i used the algo red i was really loving it,but was years ago ,maybe now i would hear more artifacts i dont know )
a perfect eq for me would be one that let me switch between high quality lp or phase for each band to really hear what i like more for the situation . (would be a pain to use for mixing cause of the big latency but for bounce or mastering it could be usefull)
don t remmeber much but i think this plug don t have pre ringing , i think it s inspired by the algo red(tried it a little years ago , haven t been amazed but it was not bad, gonna give it a other try.. )

always let your ears be the judge,even if you see some pre ringing, aliasing in plugins.. it s always how it sound ...some of the artifacts they were trying to get ride in the past is what some people love today and try to emulate. |

as long as you like it and it does what you want, but even if it s made by alogorithmix if i remember correctly it s far to be the best one.i tried it once on a mix and never used it again , maybe it was cause of the source i dont know , maybe it s fine for what you need, but i think you could find a better plug even freeware.
maybe give a try to the one i posted on first page, used it once with good result, might be better than the waves one . also would not be surpised if the nugen is far superior . |
