please explain, why if you already know about the fundamental freqs are hassling me for information on them.

Do you think I don't have better things to do with my time?           .

You have been very firm with the advice you are dishing out......I am trying to understand your point of view and logic.........I would like an example from you. a track you have made or mixed, so I can understand better what we are talking about here......after all isn't everything relative? The advice you give may work for you.....it may work for others too......an example would give us a bearing........without that then the advice is almost meaningless.           http://www.whatacunt.co.uk/

I've stated some easily checkable facts, and argued my opinion (which I've clearly stated is precisely that... opinion).

Just as you are trying to understand my point of view and logic, I'm trying to understand yours, which I find difficult, as it seems to me (and I may well be wrong) to consist of leading questions.

I do my best to answer your questions, from my point of view concisely and clearly, with as little room for ambivalence as possible.

I'm not gonna dish out the precise freqs, because that goes against the advice I've given in the thread, the whole point of which is that is doesn't make any sense to make generalisations about EQ settings in any way shape or form, but to use your ears.

Here are a couple of tracks I'm working on. I don't post complete tracks (or very rarely) online.

Hard N Dark - still under mix - especially towards the end the first section is mostly finished. Think it could do with more cut still, in the bass.

A finished track
http://files.filefront.com/orbitalkineticharpoonsmp3/;10135970;/fileinfo.html

A few days old and still in development 105bpm Dark Acid Progressive

I've never said my technique is perfect by the way... but I can hear what is wrong, and deal with it. Whether you like what I do is subjective, but I can control the subs. to get what I like.

Psytracked - when you've finished taking the piss out of Speakafreaka I'd like to hear your response to my previous post:
Quote:

I still reckon a good mix takes into account the LF extent of all the sounds, not just the ones which don't need any bottom end; also highpassing can sometimes be a vital part of getting a kick and bass to fit with each other in the first place, and not take up too much headroom in the mix, even with good sources.

Peace be with you

I actually agree with you. Before any mix I listen to every track and HP all but the kick, bass and toms to begin with (varies slightly from track to track).....................but in reality mastering engineers have not been developed as a means of ripping us all off. they are a genuine part of the production process, a valuable one in my opinion, and it has become far too fashionable to try it at home with inferior tools and a real lack of experience.......oh and look we are now swamped with loads of poorly produced music........I wonder??!?!?!?.......           http://www.whatacunt.co.uk/

I think I've given quite enough answers to questions in this thread. Its about time you answered a few.

Could you please point out any technical errors in my explanations of what EQ is, and how it works?

If you cannot do that, how can you possibly expect your arguments to carry any weight?

And I will point you back to what this whole conversation is about, which is individual elements in the track (ie the Kick Drum, and how to make it fatter), not the full mix, in the hope that you'll stay on topic.

that means post a track, thanks to the full stop.

No problem, just so you understand.

I typed it, only I know what I meant, you don't have to continue to be a dick.

Is there an off button, to stop you being a fascist prick?

lol, if only you know what you mean, then why are you on a forum? Seems that a place to discuss would be fairly pointless for you..

As for the off button - its on the front of your computer.

Still ducking my questions too I see.
