Yeah and for the sound; Drive distortion, high resonance, low cutoff, bandassfilter, sawtooth, and even add a c64 noise oscillator for even more scream.            http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

I said I like it dirty, not muddy.

If something is to seem fast then it must have a lot of short changes, being different notes, a rhythm of notes (like an apregiator) or even fast changing parameters (like playing the filter cutoff like a mad man with his balls on fire), or even combinations!

There are tons of techniques for this, some have been studied by music theorists, other shown by example, but there is no single formula           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz

make melodies. real ones. even if you tweak the sound to non-musical noise after that. make the melody musical and interesting from the start. 16-32 bar length. the more the better.

vary the bars to death, but keep the groovy rolling feeling. say, you can make the "catch phrase" and repeat it every 2 bars while other pieces are different. avoid randomness, make it logical.

fast attack and release! strong, sustained sound. saw, square of FM. 2 or 3 additional oscillators may be useful too.

make notes shorter in the beginning and in the end of the phrase, while in the middle of the phrase the notes are a bit longer. 1/64- 1/8 is the range. change the length gradually.

1 - Short and repetitive melodies with small variations at the end of every 4 or 8 bars.

2 - Subtle changes of bpm.

3 - Change tempo (3/4 feels faster and works well with kbb)           http://www.MindDoctorsMakeAcid.com
