Ever since I started messing around with laughing gas, whippits, nitrous oxide... whatever you want to call it, I have been completely perplexed by what I hear during the experience. Upon discovering psychedlic trance, I realized that it is in fact possible to produce these sounds with a computer. I have been producing psytrance with Nuendo and a slew of plugins, and am dying to know how to create the following sounds:

This example is from a Penta track featured on the compilation Acidsports called Looking Great:

The other sound I'm curious about is from the track Stampede by Rinkadink
http://www.mytempdir.com/1018781

Although both sounds are quite common in psytrance, I think these tracks serve as excellent examples. In addition, they are both fabulous tracks. Any advice as to what techniques and effects can produce these sounds is greatly appreciated. If anyone can debunk these mysteries for me, they will be rewarded

Gas is harmless, they've used it as an anesthetic for years in dentistry. The only way its going to harm your brain is if you hold your breath for so long you turn blue. Which I've seen happen by over enthusiastic clubbers.

I think those sounds you talk about are much like typical acid sounds (tb303) with lots of delays.

did not manage to get my player working to hear what ur examples are. but scrolling here on this site, through the samples called drones, sometimes reminded me of penta. so.. maybe try this (and check for drones)

and to illusions: what do you mean, are you refering to a sample CD or are you pointing to a track someone made? (did not feel like going through the effort of registering on the site you mention, to find out its useless for me).

Anyhow like Hunter i am very ineterested in sources (samples) suited for dark psy (stuff like parahalu and indeed penta uses a lot)

Any hints????

Gas won't hurt your memory, it may only cause vitamin b12 deficiancy with overuse. If you want to kill your memory take a lot of E.

Anyway, I find Rinkadink's music (which I love) to be very sample based. He often uses random samples or peices of samples in messed up ways, with delay etc. He also likes to use messed up nature samples.

That sound in the track Stampede may just be a chop out of a larger sound played on a synth, with delay.
