Ok, his is my point of view, just to help a little bit.

When it coes t basslines, there are few good VSTI, like TAu Pro, VB-1 etc....CronoX 2 is one of the favorites, it is super fat and controllable.

The main idea is that you wil not find a super bass sound without Effect inserts, that is a fact, well, you can have it unprocessed, but it's not the same.
Actually, you need a lot of sound shaping inserts to get a nice sound out of those Vsti.

In your chain, I highly recommend to use amplifiers simulations, and just shape the sound until it fits tight and clear.

Here you will find a screenshot of a bassline channel that in my opinion is siting very well in the mix, also you can download to hear it.

Hi,
Are you trying to set the "off topic world record"

, just kidding...

honestly I don't know for sure of any tracks. But what I can say is, that vb1 can sound more different than one could expect.

go here and listen MyFullOn and Factsong
http://www.subconsciousmind.ch/scm/html/music/index.php
the basses of both are vb1. I think they sound ok. it's all done with free plugs for tutorial use.. so if I would use better compressor and eqs, like URS, it would sound better.

But this is what one should be at LEAST be able to do with vb1, cubase eq, kjaerhus classic compressor, digitalfishphones dominion and bluefilter.

To add is, that the sequence, melody with which you play your bass synth is EXTREMLY important.
You can have a perfectly pro adjusted bass sound.. if you play it with a crappy bassline it can sound awful.

Most of my music for you to download at:

Haha.. when someone asks how to make a bassline the usual answer is 'use the search' hehe but this guy is asking for tunes that have vb1 or tau for bass and he gets pretty much only 'how to make a bassline' replies....

For tau I don't know much, I know Eskimo uses it a lot but not sure about specific tracks though...
Vb1 however, pretty much all old Astrix stuff, many Azax Syndrom tunes, a lot of the south african producers use it, for instance Shift, Slug, Rinkadink etc.. most of the tracks on grapes of wrath's tits on fire album. To name a specific track: Shift vs Azax Syndrom - How do you stop it

Classic vb1 sound.. when the high freq pluck is there I think the vb1 is quite easy to recognize, but there are many many tunes out there that uses it where the sound has been shaped a bit more...

hope it helps, good luck!

tritium , albino and v station rock
use cronoX sometimes too            Nocturnal Wizardz Recs
Bhooteshwara Records
Cubasing is like Freebasing, just with audio.
Both cost more than you can afford, and leaves you sitting in a dark room with no life, craving for more.

Deppends of the effect you want to achive...

in some tracks you are only listening the VB-1 "click" and the low end is been played by another synth like model-e or trilogy.
