ESM from Logic is a good Vst to make basslines. U can make really clear (but still fat) sounds and u can do nice tricks with glide.

Crono-X it´s good too, but depends a lot of the way u use the filter (more than others.

I use Vanguard, VB-1, and z3ta+ mainly..

maybe sometimes albino 2 and 3..

vanguard can be good for proggy basses if you mess with the oscillators a bit and turn the delay/reverb down..

I agree about the astrix thing, although it makes me not want to use VB-1

Audiorealism Pro is DA SHIT! and also Z3ta+

i just managed to make really similar basses to Vibrasphere with audio.

to the question

Ace Ventura - Cardiac Arrest (Zen Mechanics RMX) sounds like a VB1 bass

Both are very good, probably the best Tb-303 emulations, but Phoscyon sounds more crispy.

No, vb1 is very nice for fullon but the notes are also very static! Psytranceproducers just realised to edit melodic basslines, the future trend will follow more complex dynamics of basslines. I mean basslinemodulation besides of simple changing the semitones is sounding very powerfull. Try the Vangaurd. You are able to play with glides and detunings there.

I don't get it.. how can u make a good bassline with vanguard?!
which synth u use for it?
