how come nobody has mentioned albino?? i think it makes wonderful, rich and original basses. i also use the tau pro but feels more limited, same with audiorealism bassline,, but they are very good indeed, for what i know many pros are using tau, and of course vb-1 has been overused in my opinion. i disagree that its for fullon ,, i ve seen many progressive tracks been created with this thing

Does anyone have an opinion on the bass station (novation) VSTi? I was considering using it but I've never heard it mentioned in recent threads.
How about the Popstream basslines - so nice. Anyone know what was used? Great production this album - a favorite of mine for kick and bass inspiration.

albino is a nice synth, worthy of note, but i tend not to rely on it for bassline. as for the audiorealism, it's nice and tweakable, but i prefer the simpler sounds. easier to mold.
on that note, there are tons and tons of Bass oriented synths, all worth mentioning, and other synths, which are more versatile, but are still producing poignant basslines (Plasticz). trying to count them all and exclaiming "why didn't you put thingamabass™ in your list", is just not prudent...

Gotta agree with Lior here.
Every synth can make a bassline. After all, bass is still sound. Every synth has it's own character, so don't be afraid to experiment.
The fact that it's not bass oriented doesn't mean it can't make any bass.

Amen. I personally always get my most satisfying bass from Absynth, which seems to shock a lot of people.

Best (psytrance) basslines comes from, "Jungelist"! (IMO)
In my ears all basses made by vb-1 sound almost the same...
Its almost to easy to use ;]
Otherwise use Trilogy... its a mean ass samplebased bass machine.... it takes like 10 gb of space but its well worth it |

i use it recently and i really like the sound which is fatter (to me) than vb1 (the one i used for basslines) and the sound is more tweakable
...and i think it's worth also for leads as there's a hipass filter
there's a demo version available
http://www.audiorealism.se/products.htm
i really think it's worth a try, it's a great emulation Love and Light.

Bass-station, is very good, with the envelopes curves very apropriate for basses, the problem is the software version is not very well transited do digital: when on lower octaves, it stinks cuz it looses all the presence of sound due to it's badly transited digital nature. In OSC Sync mode, it's much better but that's a little limiting.
I've made tracks with it, and it does great, but I'd expect a better low sound on a bass generato. Anyways, it's great for leads and acids!
