Astrix's entire bassline collection is written with vb-1, if i am not mistaken... "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. We See Things As We Are" -Ancient Chinese Proverb

Just about every fullon bassline is made with either vb1, tau pro or scorpion.
Besides, it's not the instrument - it's what you do with it.
I personally use the tau pro and I can get such a variety of sounds with it so there is no point in comparing to specific tracks. Each bassline is different, there is no "tau pro" sound or "vb1" sound.

Mike A: I thought nord lead is a very used synth when talking of full-on basslines, not?

Yea, but a nord is not something you can download off the net So not everyone has it.

Speaking of tau, it's a very underestimated little synth. besides being a bassline monster, it's also a beast of a lead machine, heavy, rippling sounds, biting and barking, dripping acid. one of my alltime fav.

Mike's right, btw. there's no one VB-1 sound or one Tau Sound. however, you can distinguish those tracks quite easily (except for those written by people with a sense of sound). other than that, it's not that unique. you want bass? try benchmarking next to refx's TBL, or Vstation. or how about pro52/3? "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. I just made a sweet bassline with Z3ta+ and it doesn't sound exacty like all the other basses out there. Browse the Virus bass patches and tweak away

Not anymore. I think it's something hardware now.
Not sure though.
I love vb-1.
Simple and to the point. But it's good only for full-on unfortunatelly. Everyone in the world is doing something without me

No, vb1 is very nice for fullon but the notes are also very static! Psytranceproducers just realised to edit melodic basslines, the future trend will follow more complex dynamics of basslines. I mean basslinemodulation besides of simple changing the semitones is sounding very powerfull. Try the Vangaurd. You are able to play with glides and detunings there.

I use it and its a great TB 303 emulation. There are mp3s on their website that compare the ABL and an original 303. Test it! www.myspace.com/mentris

At the moment... for me i have to say TauPro is the king, but it still swings in my opinion. more melodic than you expect...

Vanguard though, the sound is (in my opinion) toooo digital and crispy sounding, doesn't feel controllable enough to me... but LOVE it for FX and leads

peace
