people never came up with middle act name that meens to DJ your own music and add loops and effects and synths on top of it. fuck its not DJ set. its far from it. and i dont care if the mixing done on laptop or cds.
"lively" in australia is pritty accepted but out of that there is nothing... i dont mind if they call is 'dj live set' 'deck n effects' of whatever..
but there is diffrence from DJ to artist mixing only original metirial cannot be called the same!!! when i do DJ set its not 100% my tunes at all...
and i will allready start by saying one of the examples someone give here is an artist that all he do is mixing his tunes on laptop and nothing more.. this is pritty much looks the real thing but is nothing more then dj your own stuff.

reality pixie..
there are fans who love music too much ... i personally prefer watching the artists do their thing on the console, makes me wonder and feels good to see their talent ...
yes, but will agree to u , ratio of eyes closed to open is 20:80.
but not an excuse to do "Deadact" hehe

have seen acid tech muso's in the golden days brining out almost the entire studio live and doing it 100% live.
computers ruined live.
at least dj'ing with cd's or vinyl you do something more than what Eskimo does.
He needs to be king hit, but I guess his Daddy is to high in the Psy Trance Mafia for anyone to stpe the noise and eye abuse

I'm suprised noone has sent any rotton eggs flinging. Red freckled target bouncing up and down on the console table... you can get your tickets worth right there!
Reality Pixie with Wii remotes?!?!?! That sounds freakin' awesome ... videos anywhere?

unfourtnly as i discussed with him there are no good quality video's of that yet
i reken even small home-video to show us how it works darren will do nice job to start with.
have fun with that for now

reflections.co.il
the reason i post indirect link is that is not working to "force" youtube to play high quality in embed video's and youtube links are automaticly embed.

Thanks for the plug Tsabi
You know guys to tell the truth I play my set as live as possible and nobody gives two shits... Most people are trancing out with their eyes closed to worry what I am doing at the console.
It's almost not worth it really...
At least I won't end up on deadact.com though hahahah
hehehe...
i prefer an artist that presents qality music but doesnt do shit on stage, than one who acts likea touristic village animator...
Talamasca?? im not 100% sure, saw his live plenty of times, but never from close enough. but i get the impression he also could be a candidate for "deadact".

Yes really funny video indeed. More even when u know that he will ask 3000$ to make the puppet behind his computer ahahha . But to talk honestly I think I saw only one time a real live in my life. With 3 machines and 3 guys. One for the bassline, other one the rythms and the last playing real synth. Most of the time it's only artists playing their stuff on ableton and add some rythm, loop, and synth. The real name would be more producing and not live. It's possible to do that. U can record some kik and bass loop, lead, rythm and play in ableton. Anyway it's really hard to keep the dynamic if you play alone.

id still take good ableton session as full live. maybe you not sure for all its options but im pritty sure there is NO ONE in the world that knows and still think its not proper live electronic show. it is still electronic music we talk about , and them boxes you talk about worth each like 1 channel in ableton , and with hotkeys no need for 6 hands just one keyboardwww.sattelbattle.com http://yoavweinberg.weebly.com/

This is what I saw at Life Festival in Ireland in 2007: MIDI keyboard not plugged in. Pre-prepared live set (although using edited versions of tracks with a couple of extra elements so the tracks are not the same as the released versions). Massive knob twisting of controls having nothing to do with the sounds being heard. Perhaps this was a one-off for him though; perhaps he normally has more interaction with the music on stage.
At that festival there was a studio mixer provided on the trance stage for the live-acts to use. The DJ mixer was plugged into two channels of this. I know for a fact that no live acts at the entire festival - other than OOOD - used this mixer because there were not even any line inputs on it (XLR inputs only!), and we had to raid the main stage for DI boxes so we could plug our equipment into it! I think every live-act I saw tweaked its controls though.

There are people who really appreciate the effort... and besides, wouldn't it be boring not to challenge yourself?
