Hi guys. I dont know if this the right forum to post this topic but there goes...
I 've seen some lives and the most of all are really (REEEEAALLY) fake (just PLAY and LET GO).
But some people that i talk say they like lives because the sound are always better, cause it comes direct from the computer with a cool interface ,24bits...etc
Is this really true? I dont think the lives usually sounds better (in fact, some tracks there aren mastered yet too). Any opinion ?

yes this is really true!
with a good quality soundcard it will sound better...
And you said it your self, 24bit compared to 16bit is a difference,
and if the soundcard supports 96khz or higher it's even better....but for a live situation maybe 96khz is to power consuming, depends on the computer.
but suppose that you dont play live and only do a dj set in traktor, you still got a better quality playing from the computer.
Anyway i bet some people with experience will tell you how it works |

I doubt you can hear the difference between 16 & 24.
Usually lives (real lives) sound worse, because the mixing is done live, and not in studio conditions. Tracks are not mastered as well..

Mike,
I've had a lot of different soundcards in my life and I can assure you, there's a HUGE difference in soundquality between a 16 and a 24 bit D/A.
It really improves the dynamics, the clearness of the sound and the overall soundquality.
And now over to something completely different. There's a great sequencer/audiotool called Ableton Live that automaticly beatsyncs loops, adds realtime fx and lots more. Many artist have started using it both for composing and live purposes.

Ohh and about
"(in fact, some tracks there aren mastered yet too)"
Many psytrance artists are very technical oriented and to be honest most of them does a very good pre-mastering job, i have even seen a whole album get ruined by the time it passed the mastering engineer, dont even know if the dude was one, so it all depends...
notice i did not say that a mastering engineer is a waste of time, no they often got great skills and make a damn good work! but you can do lots of voodoo magic your self..

some artists, such as bamboo Forest, don't DJ and only do live sets, because they don't like the sound of cds.
I do think live sets pack more of a punch and sound crystal clear. |

Live isnt about a soundcard, its that xtra feeling that the producer creates from the original sound. Mixing, bending sqeessing, twisting. :NOT just not programming. |

folks,
obviously you don´t expect to hear the little sound changes on a live PA.
So as for me, all this better sound ´quality´ issue is irrelevant.
