Fahrenheit Project part 4 (Ultimae, Nov. 2003)
1. Solar Fields- Union Light
2. Puff Dragon- Chinese Radio
3. Aes Dana- Memory Shell (mindgames festival live version)
4. Aural Planet- Hydropoetry Cathedra (instrumental version)
5. Carbon Based Lifeforms- Epicentere Second Movement
6. Cell- Audio Deepest Night
7. Vibrasphere- Northern Sunsets
8. Ochi Brothers- Flowing Synergy
9. Carbon Based Lifeforms- Decompression
10. Hol Baumann- Send Away

The fourth in the delicious Fahrenheit Project series from the excellent source for mellow melodic chilling music- Ultimae recoreds. A real mellow and airy journey through ambientish realms, touching different corners, more melodic, more tribal, sometime ethnic, and even loungy, but staying on the same mellow and relaxed and very emotional different plain. The Journey, compiled and mixed by Vincent starts with a perfect opener, a dramatic atmospheric powerful track from Solar Fields, then in smoothly moves to the Hypnotic tribal Chinese Radio from the Puffy side in the personality of Double Dragon, nice Chinese melodies flowing inside as well. Vincent's own Aes Dana next with Memory Shell, another dramatic melodic yet mellow tune with oriental touches. Aural Planet from Poland arrive next with a beautiful and very melodic and Goaish sounding tune- hypnotic and intense. CBL next gliding into more relaxed realms, and they never disappoint. Cell continue in the same vein with a floating atmosphere on top of a heartbeat rhythm. Vibrasphere take us to a more old school sound, I liked it at first, but then grew tired with it. From Japan next Flowing Synergy, tabla beats with weird background melodies. CBL give another short interlude to the excellent finishing piece from Hol Bauman. Send Away is a slow ethnic, almost tribal tune, very mellow and with a beautiful vocal (what about credit for singers, hah?).

Bottom line: another excellent mellow chilling journey, perfect for the coming winter. You'll be friends with the tracks after 3 listenings already. The first part talked more to me, but the last track gives it a nice finish tempting you the press play again. Favorites: 1(!!), 3-6, 10(!!).

Compiled by Aes Dana (Vincent Villuis), Fahrenheit 4 delivers his new flux of chill tones inside an ocean of orangeade with a golden cloudy sky (btw you should buy this one just for the beautiful artwork & complete your cover design collection).

Good start with Union Light, Solar Fields comes back here with exactly the kinda production i like from him (& i don’t appreciate all his tunes).

I’m quite surprised discovering Puff Dragon as it’s Steve Good (aka Double Dragon : progressive project) cooking Chinese Radio nevertheless I’m not fully conviced, too repetitive & sounding chinese cliché to my ears.

Time for deepness & hypnotic feeling , let’s go for a dive questing the Memory Shell, Aes Dana gives you extra oxygen bottles if needed.

Aural Planet (Radoslaw Kochman from Poland) - Hydropoetry Cathedra , merits his place, not brainblasting but keep the flow.

In this second movement of Epicentre , Carbon Based Lifeforms propose a bleeper melodic approach embellished with didgeridoo’s grumbeling in the background. Profusion of sounds & balearic rythmic are also the main novelties compared to the first movement (in ther album), the initial musical theme remains the same.

Cell (Alex Scheffer from France) estonishes my eardrums, what a change between this & his last track in Fahrenheit 3 (i was disliking it) ! , a contemplating view of the canopy of heaven made of constellations, with sparkling stars & shooting stars.

Northern Sunsets is a cold shy melody box which would have been very slightly twisted or strechted. At 2’45, the first sunbeams appears, it get warmer with dubby tones wich get later interminglinded with the cold melody box. Definitively, the sun tries to emerge, that’s when the accoustic guitar arrives on the end.

I’m very disrupted by the harmonies of Flowing Synergy, there’s a big worry with them, too much confused.

Second CBL opus, but this one is too short that it can’t really let express something .

In Send Away, Hol Baumann (from France), uses reverse samples, one lead & several rythmic, confering a special psychotic taste to his song. The metalic chord (cithare ?) delivers a melody which make think to the musical theme of ‘The Persuaders’ an old TV serie (Amicalement Votre in french).

Favorites by order :6,7,1
Then :3,10,5

Mark :8/10

I'm really looking forward to this release but haven't got my hands on it yet ... but I'm sure that Ultimae are keeping the high standard.

This is an excellent part
I love it

As of now, the track that touched me the most is the 2nd (love the little melody...)
But I still have to listen to it quietly

Again, good work Ultimae

Excellent stuff, as always. This label hasn't brought out one disappointing release yet! I hope they keep it up. I for sure share their 'panoramic' vision Faves here: Tracks 3,5,6,9. Especially the Aes Dana track on offer here is simply great. Nice padsounds...           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment.
