Hey! All well

A ascending beep? maybe a gold ray? lol
A portamento glide...Aka Glissando, but in written classical music they are different in preformance.. so ill stick to saying portamento. Cause thats the function called on a synth to do these buildups..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glissando

activate portamento on your synth..
Synth1
Albino
V-station
just to name a few, but you need to tweak the synths Amp env and filter env, so its high attack and maybe medium decay and sustain, experiment with different settings, release not too long.. also experiment with amount of portamento.. Now glide from a scale or just a few tones.. also try and go from octave to octave...

Or you can pitchbend a sound...

Go experiment

That little sound sounds like the pitch is rising. Followed by a little short delayed burst of something. To my ears.

That is a bitchbend indeed
if you have a midi controller just play and automate the pitchbend of a pad string type of sound.
