new company throwing their hat into the ring of VSTi plug-ins is Fabfilter who have announced the release of their debut effects plug-in Fabfilter One. It's a powerful monophonic synthesiser that offers excellent sound quality and is perfectly suited for fat bass and drums, lead sounds and stunning sound effects.
Fabfilter have worked extensively hard on this instrument to ensure that it offers truely exceptional sound quality in what they call the "smoothest self-oscillating digital filter you've ever heard". It offers custom-shaped waveforms and fine-tuned sound, extensive pulse width modulation options, smart interpolation algorithms and a straightforward user interface.
It is currently available in a Windows version and a Mac OS X release is currently scheduled for the Summer of 2004. It is available now for an introductory price of $79 as a VSTi plug-in and stand-alone version for Windows. A demo version is also available from the Fabfilter website.
