Im under heavy consideration of buying a labtop...
I was gonna buy the M-Audiophile 24/96 for my pc but then I end up with more budget so I though of buying a labtop and divide the 2 into different tasks... PC for everyday use and labtop exclusivly for my production...
I had several opinions from different people I did a small research and I also search in this section of the forum to find different opinions.
I found this website as well http://www.tweakheadz.com/soundcards_for_the_home_studio.htm but I still need more...
My budget for a sound card is more or less around $150-200...
Any possible opinion will be appreciated.
Thanx

Hey man cool choise though you have to take into consideration that Laptop fixing and buying all kind of parts for it is much more expensive,, so if you don't really need it to travel with it and work on far palces out of the studio or play live or d.j. set with it don't buy it, IMO consider it again.
Here is a site with some soundcards devided by manufactur company:
http://www.sonicstate.com/digital/cfman.cfm?catid=5&level=1
As for soundcard and laptop i know Echo have nice soundcard with special extension for notebooks, don't know the price though.

hope you'll get what you need.

Thanx a lot Motorik for your help...
But I have reached to my decision, im gonna buy a Labtop since I have a friend that owns a shop with the spare parts and all...
Now what I would realy appreciated, is that someone can give me 2-3 good names of sound carts so I can look out of them... I saw the websites that u gave me and thank u very much but since I have no clue what and which one, I would appreciate it if someone that knows a few things more could help me out...
Thanx

I using a G4 Laptop with a M-Audio Firewire 410.
I'm not sure about the Firewire 410 price these days, but it's a great interface for my Laptop.
As far as connections-
2 Mic/Line I/P on the front (Global Phantom power), 2 Line I/P on the back.
8 O/P in total.
A very good plus is the actual Firewire connection which basically eliminates the need for a seperate power supply for the sound card.
Hope this helps you in your quest

I use the Edireol USB UA-20 ($180US) on my laptop. It seems to handle Cubase and Reason fairly well, and has two 1/4" inputs (which can be set to line level, mic, or guitar), stereo RCA out, and a midi plug.
My only complaint is that it's a little plasticky cheap feeling, but overall the sound is nice w/low latency.
In the same price range is the Tascam US122 ($150US) which is comparable functionality-wise. I haven't used this one though so I can't vouch for it.
The Edirol seems to be rated higher (8.1/10) than the Tascam though (6.9/10) on www.zzounds.com.
Hope that helps!

Hey Everyone,
I just re-installed Windows XP on my IBM Thinkpad, and now I notice that there seems to be a problem with the soundcard. It overloads very easily while using Fruity Loops and causes the program to crash sometimes. It also skips while playing normal MP3s!!! Yes, thats right, I can't even listen to an MP3 now without it skipping somewhere along the line. I cant handle this and I'm not going to re-install Windows again, so I've decided to go ahead and buy a new soundcard. I have an IBM Thinkpad A20p. I'm not too familiar with soundcards for notebooks and I've been reading about some external USB soundcards. I read a little about the Creative Extigy and Creative Audigy. Please can someone recommend a good soundcard (thats not too difficult to install) for my computer. I use Fruity Loops alot and also this program called Virtual DJ. My budget is about $100-150 US. BOOM!
