In my head the standard lenght of a goa/psy track is 7-9 minutes. Og for all del, please make longer journeys!! No harm in that
Just keep the radio edits out of my face. lol

Most of the greateast tracks ever made were no more then 5 min.
A radio edit is no longer then 3, so a dance music track can tell everything it has to offer in 6 to 8 min.

The length of a track really has no significance IMO. It varies depending upon what the artist has in mind as a possible outcome and what the artist's approach towards the track is.
Sometimes you will hear 4-5 minute bang bang straight for the kill tracks. For example tracks by Syntax Error, Alien Mental etc.
and you will also hear 8-14 minute long journeys when the aim is more to create a journey. You will hear artists like Derango, Psykovsky etc. doing this.
Off course each artist has his own ammunition that includes a vast plethora of track times and approaches. But it in the end it all comes down to how each track is used in manipulating the mind of the listener/dancer.

I personally find it takes a helluva effort to make a track worth listening to after 9 minutes... I have only found ambient and chillout tracks can really get away with it, but any"dance/techno/trance" just gets repetitive and boring...
I mean when you see a dj mix does he play the entire track and just cross fade!? no he just chooses what he percives to ebt he best bits which usually goes for at most 5 minutes, then he mixes in the next track...
so I would say do not make these extended tracks coz it is just boring, go download a dj mix or live set instead!

who cares about the duration ..on the new solar fields album , u will find most tracks are between 9-11 mins or so ..while the sattel battel album has most tracks at 4 - 5:50 mins ..and there`s even one @ 15 mins .. 7 mins remains an average tho coz i think it`s difficult to keep one`s attention for a long time with dance music

duration doesn't matter, if the trip is relevant & captivating throughout the duration, but if it's just plain repetetion, it's no good.
