Hey, I'm looking at buying a laptop for production and hopefully live performance one day. I know people here seem to recommend the Toshiba's as a sturdy reliable option and thats certinaly on the list. But what about Acer? Their Travelmate 5625WSMi seems to be good value.
Anyone had experiences good or bad with the Acer brand? Mainly looking for stability/reliability with a minimum of driver hassles and conflicts. Performance is also good but I doubt with Core 2 Duo this will be a problem.
I know theres a lot of people here running live rigs, so I'd love to hear about whats good and whats not. |

One for and one against.. ahah. Thanks guys, after doing a bit more research it seems Acer are on the budget end of components. Infact, they sell them at wallmart in the US.
Definately leaning more towards the VAIO or Toshiba now I think.
Incidentally, I found this chart that ranks all the current notebook processors. Some intersting results with Core 2 Duo not proving to be that much ahead of similarly Mhz Duo processors...

I have never worked with acer laptops before, but their desktops are of fair quality. Good when on a budget.
I would not recommend Sony laptops, as they are over-priced, and VERY proprietary, in my opinion.
HP are not very good quality, IMO.
Go Toshiba. I would recommend toshiba over a dell laptop any day.
