Experiences of analog filters?

I have been thinking of getting an analog filter, but I'm not sure where to look.

There is sherman filterbank, mutator (http://www.mutronics.co.uk/) and moogerfoorger lowpass... sherman looks very promising, but is there any other one? Midi control and envelope follower are must!

Thanks

I have the F.A.T. (Future Analog Technologies) THC 00 filter, its awesome, but very old and hard to find.

How many inputs does it have? I would love to get something with like 4... Sherman has 2 which is okay but it also has some other fancy stuff that rises the price.

And going modular with something like doepfer will cost just too much though it would be flexible.

a friend owns the sherman,it s sounds good but it s not easy, you need lot of time on it to know it well but with a tb 303 or anything else pluged in it s killer , the low pass is not his strenght , heard the moogerfooger is better , much precise.

Consider the modular option simply because in the long run, it will be much cheaper. I have lots of differerent filter outputs (50 in total) on my Doepfer/Analog Systems modular. They are all midi controlled with a slew limiter that smooths out the stepping (for those long filter sweeps) of the midi protocol. The filter sound grat and the choice of available filters is massive!
Be warned though, analogue modular synths are extremely addictive. You'll be selling your other synths for more modules, in no time!

Here's a few pics of my system

This last filter is the CEM 3320 based A-107 morphing filter that has 36 different filter outputs (assorted slopes of conventional filters and a few weird "exotic" curves) and allow for CV controlled smooth transitions of filter outputs.

Thanks Pom. Do you know if sherman's filters can be synced and used for stereo signal?...

ugh, e-tard, that's hard core... yes I know there is always the analog modular way, but I'm afraid of taking it

I just need a filter to replace the digital filters of some synths (currently microQ, which has word "digital" written all over it) and perhaps driving some electric bass/vocals/acoustic stuff through it with envelope follower...

yeah alot tend to mix with analog/digital
micro Q , nord , virus and hole lot more are pure digital which meens its (v)st with his own dsp , soundcard , and evrything
(v) is because u have analog knobs           www.sattelbattle.com

5Meo-Geo, yeah that looks (well, sounds) nice. However, I would like a something with analog inputs... That's meant for computer based setups.

Good to see that Waldorf is still live and kicking, though.

Never touched a moogerfooger, but I've owned a Sherman FilterBank, and the Mutronics Mutator (just sold it...sniff), and I would hands down recommend the Mutator.

The FilterBank was very harsh in my experience, and takes a lot of time to get anything usable, IMO.

Dharma, thanks for the info. Mutator does not eat midi, am I right? How much did you pay for it? Seems a bit expensive...

The filter should accept midi so that it could be used with monophonic synths easily. I should check out how much it would cost to build a modular setup with midi control.

Well, I keep on looking. Just checking out the possibilities here. Thanks everyone.
