the diffrence is using (or not) the makeup gain i think

Yes, and since most (the ones I use anyway, which are not most to be honest) have the auto-make up gain switched on, the stuff below the threshold, does come through, lowder.

yeap , i hate auto make-up gain , its almost as worse as harsh hipass filter on bass. i cant say what it is exacly exept that it lose the 'organic' or 'natural' vibe in it.           www.sattelbattle.com

I might be wrong, but the auto gain in Logic's compressors, applies gain according to teh gain reduction, haven't looked for a long time, but yeah, if you go overboard with the gain reduction, it will sound shite.

Whats the difference between Make-up gain and the Output section? As long as there is no eq/filters in between?

See comps like the URS Strip Pro...           http://www.myspace.com/fragletrollet

yeah not familiar with logic too good , in cubase the native dynamic processor is quite shite anyhow.. but logic's sound perception always been closer to mine , too bad they moved to mac.. the only program that equal and even on top of FL in its imagination and capabilities.. imo

i use expanders in the dressing for the pasta.
brings up the fresh tomato flavor
and compress afterward to "tight" up the onion, tomato, basil, garlic, oregano , oil.
tip of the day:
I recommend to use automation for the salt and pepper and adjust where needed
For the pasta i make my midi pattern with a couple of automation and the sequencer does it all (really fast- CPU only about 10% )

take them both and
bounce into the pan at 24/44100
serve warm

Hey man..expansion might work nicely soetimes..but it is actualy the direct opposite of compression..didn`t understand why you mention compression in this task so..even in other posts..just to clarify..

The vintage Compressor in cubase is quite nice for bass..like it more than the usual compressor..especially for sidechain..

cheers

I hardly ever compress basslines anymore, I tend to use compression much more for leads. Sometimes Rbass for the bassline. What do you mean I amwrong Tsabi?

Quote from WIKI :

"In simple terms, a compressor is an automatic volume control. Loud sounds over a certain threshold are reduced in level while quiet sounds remain untreated (this is known as downward compression, while the less common upward compression involves making sounds below the threshold louder while the louder passages remain unchanged). In this way it reduces the dynamic range of an audio signal. This may be done for aesthetic reasons, to deal with technical limitations of audio equipment, or to improve audibility of audio in noisy environments."

I simply put it as simple as possible for the guy...

An expander by no means expands the dynamic range btw.

in the overall it's the best to get a good source and saving up with procces of manipulating the sound too much.
(but trully i also manipulate with my methods that some of them are written here and some arnet )           http://www.myspace.com/davidabrgel
